Multipurpose units for 2-pipe systems
NRP RANGE
Range The multipurpose 2-pipe units have been made to meet the needs of a two pipe air-conditioning system and DHW throughout the year.
This occurs thanks to the two braze-welded plate heat exchangers; one is entirely dedicated to the production of cold/hot water for the system depending on the climatic season, while the other is responsible for producing DHW.
· PRODUCTION OF CHILLED WATER ONLY: the multipurpose unit acts as a classical chiller: cool water to the system, and condensation heat disposal outside, through finned coils.
· PRODUCTION OF HOT WATER ONLY: the multipurpose unit acts as a heat pump. Exploiting the heat of outside air through the finned coil (evaporator), it raises the temperature of the water for the system through a plate heat exchanger (condenser).
· PRODUCTION OF DOMESTIC HOT WATER ONLY: the multipurpose unit acts as a heat pump.
Exploiting the heat of outside air through the finned coil (evaporator), it raises the temperature of DHW through a plate heat exchanger (condenser).
· COMBINED PRODUCTION: if the utility requires at the same time DHW and cold water, the unit acts as a water heating unit, controlling condensation and evaporation on two separate plate heat exchangers associated to the circulation of cold and hot water in the system for DHW production. The transition from one configuration to another takes place automatically (managed by an on-board microprocessor) trying to optimise the spent energy depending on the utility demand.
Size Cooling capacity from 43 to 477 kW.
Heating capacity from 46 to 544 kW.
Cooling circuit Two independent cooling circuits allowing the production of hot and chilled water simultaneously or not simultaneously.
Operational fields
· PRODUCTION OF CHILLED WATER ONLY: chilled water temperature producible from 4 °C to 18 °C, with outdoor air from -10 °C to 46 °C.
· PRODUCTION OF HOT WATER ONLY: hot water temperature producible from 25 °C to 55 °C, with outdoor air from -15 °C to 42 °C.
· COMBINED PRODUCTION: hot water temperature from 30 °C to 55 °C, and chilled water producible from 4 °C to 18 °C.
Refrigerant NRP range chillers use HFC R410A near-azeotropic mixture as a refrigerant; it is characterised by nil ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential), and classified within the safety group A1 according to the ASHRAE 34-1997 Standard.
Version High efficiency version. The unit uses increased finned core coils with a wide exchange surface.
Supporting frame Made of hot galvanised sheet steel with suitable thickness, and painted with polyester powders able to withstand weathering over time. The supporting structure is made so as to ensure maximum accessibility for service and/or maintenance operations.
Composition The unit consists of a frame with a single module.
Number of compressors 4 scroll compressors and 2 circuits (each circuit is equipped with two compressors).
Description of the compressors The scroll-type hermetic compressors mounted on NRPs are optimised to work with R410A refrigerant and feature high efficiency and low power consumption. They are provided as standard with a sump anti-freeze electrical resistance. This is powered automatically at each stop to keep the unit under tension. They are driven by 2-pole electric motors with internal circuit breaker protection, chilled by intake gas. They are assembled on rubber shock absorbers placed at the base. To minimize noise, the compressors are enclosed in a sound proof compartment.
Thermostatic valve Standard mechanical thermostatic valve with outdoor equaliser placed at the exit of the evaporator, and bulb sensitive to the intake temperature. Depending on the heat load, it modulates the gas flow, while maintaining the correct degree of superheat of the intake gas to the compressor. This makes it possible to work with a minimum temperature of the produced water at 4 °C.
Magellano - Aermec S.p.A. 6
Plate heat exchanger Plate type, high efficiency, dry expansion water-refrigerant exchanger, made of braze welded AISI 316 stainless steel.
Externally isolated with closed cell material to prevent the formation of condensation and reduce heat loss. An anti-freeze electrical resistance to protect the exchanger when the unit is not operating is fitted as standard.
Source side heat exchanger (coils) Air-refrigerant exchangers, made up of fin coils with copper pipes and hydrophilic aluminium louvered fins, blocked by pipes mechanical expansion. Source side exchangers can operate as condensers or evaporators or be excluded from the circuit (depending on the operation mode of the multipurpose unit).
Description of the cooling circuit Made of copper pipes with welded joints in silver alloy including the following components in addition to the compressors and exchangers:
· thermostatic valve modulating the gas flow depending on the refrigerant load;
· mechanical dehydrator filter made of ceramics and hygroscopic material, capable of retaining impurities and any traces of humidity in the cooling circuit;
· liquid indicator to check the presence of humidity in the cooling circuit;
· solenoid valve on the liquid line closing when the compressor switches off, blocking the refrigerant gas flow to the evaporator;
· cooling cycle reversing valve that reverses the refrigerant flow when operation modes change during defrosting cycles;
· one-way valves to direct the refrigerant in the correct flow direction;
· accumulation of the liquid to retain the refrigerant gas in its liquid state, whenever the machine has a surplus at that particular point of operation;
· compressor intake liquid separator: used to prevent the flow of liquid into the compressor inlet.
Ventilation Unit Standard fan unit consisting of helical fans (with an IP 54 degree of protection). The rotors are balanced statically and dynamically, driven directly by 6-pole electric motors. Electrically protected by incorporated magnet circuit breakers, and mechanically with accident-prevention protection nets fixed on the upper part of the timber framework.
Number of fans The ventilation unit for the disposal of the heat produced by the condensers is composed of 6 fans with rotor of 800 mm.
Electric Control Board Contains the power section and the controls and safety devices management unit. It is in compliance with the LVD 2006/95/EC Directive, and the EMC 2004/108/EC, regarding electromagnetic compatibility. Moreover, all cables are numbered allowing quick recognition of all electrical components.
It is always equipped with a door-lock isolating switch: the electric control board can be accessed disconnecting power supply and acting on the opening lever of the control board. This lever can be locked using one or more padlocks during maintenance work to prevent an unwanted power-up of the unit. Inside the control board is a control keyboard allowing complete control of the unit.
Power supply Power supply 400V/3N/50Hz with magnetic circuit breakers.
Safety and protection devices The chiller is always provided with the following devices:
· fixed calibration high pressure gauge (40 bar) with manual reset: it is located on the pressing line side of the compressor and has the task to stop the compressor operation in the event of abnormal operating pressure;
· high pressure transducer: it is placed on the low pressing line side of the compressor and signals the work pressure to the control board, generating a pre-warning and alarm in case of abnormal pressure;
· low pressure transducer operating as a low pressure gauge: it is placed on the intake pipe of the compressor and signals the work pressure to the control board, generating a pre-warning and alarm in the event of abnormal operating pressure;
· cooling circuit safety valves, the one on the low pressure side is calibrated at 30 bar, the one on the high pressure side at 45 bar: they operate discharging the overpressure in the event of abnormal pressure;
· DCPX condensation pressure controller: it allows successful operation with outdoor temperatures below 10 °C, and up to – 10 °C. It is an adjustment circuit board which varies the number of fan revs according to the condensation pressure read by the high pressure transducer, in order to keep it
Magellano - Aermec S.p.A. 7 sufficiently high for a correct operation of the unit. It also allows a proper operation in heating mode with outdoor temperatures above 30 °C and up to 42 °C;
