THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE HOT UNTIL TESTED OTHERWISE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TEST ALL ELECTRICAL CABLES TO ENSURE THEY ARE DEAD PRIOR TO WORK ON THE ITEM.
6.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS: None Additional.
7.0 STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:
7.1 Tag-Out all required systems and equipment. Drain and dispose of any liquid in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
7.2 Cut and temporarily remove existing insulation and lagging around each Waster Piece and each adjacent mated Saltwater isolation valve. Retain for reinstallation. Inspect removed insulation/lagging for reuse prior to reinstallation.
7.3 Prior to removal, each waster piece shall be tagged and scribed to identify waster piece number, space, and installed location.
7.4 Disassemble waster pieces, and retain all removed fasteners from each waster piece, for reuse. Bag and tag removed fasteners, and label each set of bagged fasteners with the specific waster piece number, space, and location. Inspect all fasteners for suitable reuse, prior to reassembly of each waster piece.
7.5 Remove and rig each waster piece from installed location, and convey from ship to shop.
7.6 Fabrication of NEW Waster Pieces:
7.6.1 Fabricate new waster pieces, using references 2.6 and 2.7 for guidance, and utilizing the existing waster pieces as a template. NOTE: Waster Pieces identified in references 2.1 thru 2.7 are NOT the same length.
7.6.2 In addition to above, use reference 2.7, specific to fabrication of waster piece 1, 2 and 3.
7.6.3 References 2.6 and 2.7 identifies the material requirements for fabrication of waster pieces.
7.6.4 Notify MSCREP and ABS to witness assembly fit up prior to final welding of each new waster piece flange and pipe assembly.
7.6.5 All new welds shall meet ABS requirements for building and classing steel ships.
7.6.6 Using information from original waster piece in 7.3, tag and scribe each new waster piece, to identify waster piece number, space, and installed location.
7.7 Installations:
7.7.1 Convey new waster pieces from shop to ship. Rig and reinstall each new waster piece to original space and location.
7.7.2 Reassemble each new waster pieces, using original retained fasteners previously removed in 7.4. Any fastener inspected to be unfit for reinstallation shall be replaced with new by the contractor. For estimating and bidding purposes, assume ten percent (10%) of removed fasteners shall be renewed.
7.7.3 Renew all removed and disturbed gaskets.
7.7.4 Reinstall insulation and lagging temporarily removed in 7.2.
7.8 Inspection/Test:
7.8.1 Perform inspection of 30-inch waster pieces of High and Low sea chest adjacent to SW-V-1, SW-V-4 and SW-V-33 (reference 2.1) for corrosion, pitting, and verify they are free of marine growth. Perform UT for thickness. Provide condition found report.
7.8.2 Shop Tests:
a. Perform NDT tests on all new welds. Notify ABS and MSCREP to witness tests. Where NDT of welds exhibit indications that do not meet acceptance levels in the “ABS Rules for Nondestructive Inspection of Welds” the welds shall be repaired. This process shall be repeated until results are found acceptable by ABS and MSCREP.
b. Each new Waster Piece shall be hydrostatically tested per requirements identified on the applicable reference 2.1 through 2.5. Notify ABS and MSCREP to witness tests.
7.8.3 Clear system tag-outs. Accomplish operational test of systems to prove restored systems are free and clear and all joints and mating surfaces are leak free. Cycle disturbed valves adjacent to new waster pieces to prove fully functional.
7.9 Painting/Insulation:
7.9.1 Prepare, prime, and paint all new waster piece outer diameters with primer coat and two topcoats of finish paint to match surrounding surfaces using MSC GTR 7 for guidance.
a. Do not paint inside waster pieces.
b. Do not paint gasket area.
7.9.2 Clean and prepare any disturbed areas, and apply primer coat and two topcoats of finish paint, to match the surrounding areas, using MSC GTR 7 for guidance.
7.9.3 Original insulation or lagging temporarily removed for reuse in 7.2, that is inspected and determined unfit for reuse, shall be renewed, using MSC GTR 22 for guidance.
