VENDOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Question 1: Will there be a site survey prior to award?
Answer 1: Yes – Please see updated Notes to Offerors for details.
Question 2: How many users need to control the content of the video wall simultaneously?
Answer 2: One.
Question 3: Will the government provide PCs which to load software to control the video wall and video wall software?
Answer 3: No.
Question 4: Will the video wall be left on 24/7/365?
Answer 4: No.
Question 5: Do you require the ability to turn off the video wall?
Answer 5: Yes.
Question 6: Is a freestanding structure required for the video wall?
Answer 6: See Answer 7.
Question 7: Will the video wall be installed on a wall?
Answer 7: The current rear projection screen opening is 271" x 68". These three screens will be removed to expose the opening during installation. This opening will provide the medium with which to install the video wall to. At a minimum, the existing screen opening will be covered by the new video wall just on the outside of the hardwood trim that wraps the opening. The opening shall be used to facilitate a contractor provided “free standing” video wall support structure using vertical/horizontal poles/steel tubes etc. members that will attach the monitors just outside the opening of the wall, and shall be securely fastened to the existing framing/trim located around the perimeter of the existing projection screen opening.
Question 8: The requirements state to interface with a 5.1 surround sound with inputs from a Polycom vortex.
Please provide a detailed explanation of exactly what is required?
a. Are you asking that each of the 15 inputs be connected to the Polycom Vortex?
b. Are you asking that the video wall processor have an audio output to feed the Polycom Vortex?
c. How are you controlling volume of the surround sound system?
d. Do you require reconfiguration of the Polycom vortex?
Answer 8:
a. Not if the Video wall processor can handle this, but audio is necessary to be controlled from inputs.
b. If it does not then a separate controlling interface would be required.
c. Extron control.
d. Currently microphones in the control room and Master Presentation Room (MPR), as well as Computers are controlled by switchbox interface and can be adjusted or muted independently of each other. This ability to adjust the microphone volume is necessary, PC’s can be controlled by the PC volume (Operating System) if necessary.
Reconfiguration of the Vortex would not be required if the videowall processor can provide the same audio control over PC’s, VTC, etc as is currently used (PC, Microphone, Aux, etc).
Question 9: Is the rest of the audio system already in place, such as an amplifier and speakers?
Answer 9: Yes
Question 10: Is there an existing control system?
Answer 10: Yes, it is outdated and will be replaced by this requirement.
Question 11: What is the existing control system?
Answer 11: Extron CrossPoint.
Question 12: Do you have the source code for the existing control system?
Answer 12: No.
Question 13: Do you require modification of the existing control interface?
Answer 13: The existing control interface will be replaced.
Question 14: Do you require a rack for the video wall processor or is there an existing rack that can be repurposed?
Answer 14: There are 2 available racks, the third contains the audio processors and amplifiers, all are side by side.
Question 15: How far is the video wall from the location where the video wall processor will be installed?
Answer 15: 50 Ft. line of sight
Question 16: Do you require the ability to drag and drop content across the video wall pixel space?
Answer 16: Yes, currently we have this ability to drag content across from one projector to another so that 3 items can be displayed simultaneously.
Question 17: Do you require the ability for a source to be partially in one display and partially in another?
Answer 17: Yes. Example: Extremely wide spreadsheets are currently run across two projectors and displayed as one.
Question 18: Will you consider making this a Small Business Set Aside under the same NAICS code?
Answer 18: No. Based on our market research, we will not be setting this requirement aside.
Question 19: Will electrical be provided as necessary to support the video wall and video wall processor?
Answer 19: Yes. Existing electrical power is available.
Question 20: How far are the 15 inputs from where the video wall processor will be installed?
Answer 20: Only 8 inputs required per updated SOW, approximately 3-15 ft away.
Question 21: Is it required to provide signal extension from the location of the 15 inputs to the location of the video wall processor?
Answer 21: No.
Question 22: Is there an existing video wall in place?
Answer 22: No, 3 rear projectors are in place.
Question 23: If there is an existing video wall in place do you require the existing video wall and supporting equipment to be disassembled and decommissioned, and left on site for the government to dispose of?

Answer 26: The Statement of Work has been updated to 1-2mm for gap.
Question 27: Do you require that each monitor be 1080P or the entire video wall have an aggregate resolution of 1080P?
Answer 27: Each monitor shall be a minimum resolution of 1080p.
Question 28: Do you require each 1080P monitor that makes up the video wall to be driven at 1080P (1920x1080) resolution?
Answer 28: Yes.
Question 29: What are the dimensions of the overall room?
Answer 29: 29.4 feet x 43.3 feet x 12 feet in height.

Answer 32: There is no loading dock.
Question 33: The SOW states that the video wall shall be a minimum of 271” x 68”. What is the maximum?
Answer 33: The maximum size the video wall can support is 307” wide x 80” tall.
Question 34: What will the video wall be mounted to?
Answer 34: Video wall should be built onto a contractor provided structure/mounting surface (vertical and/or horizontal) mounted within the inside or on the front of the existing 271” x 68” opening.
Question 35: Will the Navy provide carpentry and other construction to insure a proper fit of the video wall?
Answer 35: The Navy will not provide carpentry or other construction service, although we can work with the installation team to resolve connection issues with respect to contractor supplied mounting structures.
Question 36: The SOW states that there will be 15 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs. How will this be displayed on the overall wall?
Answer 36: Please refer to the updated SOW. .
Question 37: The SOW does not specify a video wall processor which is a costly item. Please clarify.
Answer 37: The SOW has been updated to include a video wall processor – this drives the video wall and shall be a replacement for the 15 input/8 output switch box.
Question 38: What type of ceiling is currently employed at this installation site? If drop ceiling, are cable trays already provided?
Answer 38: There is currently a dropped ceiling in place, however all cabling will be routed via a raised floor system. No aerial cabling will be required to support subject video wall Question 39: What is the ceiling height at the installation location?
Answer 39: See answer 25 above.
