SECTION 0: GENERAL GUIDANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
040 INTRODUCTION AND GENERAL DESCRIPTION
040-1 Mission The 11 meter Naval Special Warfare Surface Support Craft is a nominally 32'-36' commercial aluminum deep-vee hulled boat with a protective collar for open water utility operations. Craft are used from inland bays and waterways to deep water over the horizon transits, day and night, all seasons, in all operating conditions and weather. Open ocean diver and swimmer support, safety craft, medical transport, ramp launch, road transport, alongside vessel operations, vessel and equipment towing, combat craft & parachutist water airdrop training support, over-the-horizon training evolutions including Advanced Seal Delivery System (ASDS), Dry Deck Shelter (DDS), Seal Delivery Vehicle (SDV), and submarine lock-in/out training. Craft has a multipurpose deck for carrying various payloads, dive equipment, personnel, or mission gear.
040-2 Variants Two variants are described in this specification: open center console (open) and enclosed cabin (cabin). Specification sections specific to open variant only are identified with a section number suffix of “a” and sections specific to cabin variant are identified with a section number suffix of “b” for convenience. The below table summarizes the differences between the two variants throughout this specification. Elsewhere commonality between the variants shall be maintained as much as practical, specifically engines, trailers, hoisting slings, and tie down straps..
