About this file

The document is a Request for Quotes (RFQ) issued by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Division of Forest Resources, Mason State Nursery, seeking native Illinois tree seeds for the fall of 2025. The solicitation covers multiple species of oak (Quercus), walnut (Juglans), hickory (Carya), and bald cypress (Taxodium) seeds, with specific quantities ranging from 200 to 7000 pounds per species. Delivery dates are staggered, with oaks and walnuts due by November 1st, 2025, hickories and pecans by December 18th, 2025, and bald cypress by March 31st, 2026.

The IDNR has established strict quality requirements for the seeds, including cleanliness, proper labeling, packaging in onion sacks, seed processing (such as husking, floating, and sorting), and viability verification through cut tests. All seeds must be from an Illinois ecotype seed source and will be subject to inspection, with the IDNR reserving the right to reject any seeds that do not meet the specified quality standards. The RFQ provides a detailed table for vendors to quote prices per pound for each tree seed species, with the total cost to be calculated based on the quoted price and specified quantity.
