AbilityOne Mess Halls
The Non-Profit Agency (NPA) will provide labor under the Regional Garrison Food Service Contract (RGFSC) in all Marine Corps Mess Halls specified as AbilityOne utilizing mandatory labor categories and associated tasks as follows:
Food Sanitation Specialist II (may also be called Mess Attendant or Food Service Worker)
Food Service Workers perform a variety of tasks concerned with the preparation and serving of foods and beverages; Washes, peels, scrapes, and cuts vegetables and fruits; prepares simple salads and toast; makes coffee, tea, and other beverages; dishes out portions of foods on trays or plates, pours beverages, and serve food in a “ready-to-serve” form; prepares dining and serving areas by setting up counters, stands, and tables; places food containers in serving order, fills salt and pepper shakers, places linen and silverware on tables, busses tables in dining areas where applicable; scrapes, washes, and sorts dishes, glassware, and silverware; cleans kitchen equipment, pots and pans, counters, and tables, cleans facilities sweeps and mops floors Cashier (may also be called Meal Verification personnel) Under the supervision of the food service manager, the cashier is responsible for operating the POS/Cash register in Mess Halls. They will maintain and monitor Point of Sale transactions and meal tracking system, and other clerical duties as required ensuring accurate financial accountability and a smooth flow of customer traffic.
The Point of Sales system usually involves use of POS computer related hardware and software, electronic scanners, cash registers, or related equipment. Duties often involve processing credit or payroll deduction type transactions and validating checks.
Based on the requirements set forth in the Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD_12), cashiers will be classified as IT-III Non-Sensitive positions and will require Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) security background investigations and issuance of a DOD Common Access Card (CAC) to gain access to all government owned computers.
Cashiers receive cash from customers or employees in payment for goods or services and records amounts received; computes bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amount due, using adding machine or cash register; makes change, cashes checks and issues receipts or tickets to customers; records amounts received and prepare reports of transactions; reads and records totals shown on cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand; may make credit card transactions; may be required to know value and features of items for which money is received; may give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise; may operate ticket-dispensing machine; may sell candy, cigarettes, gum and gift certificates, and issue trading stamps; collects payment for meals from authorized customers who are required to pay for meals (enlisted personnel on separate rations, officers, etc.)
Assistant Store Clerk
Assistant Store Clerk performs physical tasks to transport or store materials or merchandise. Duties involve one or more of the following: Manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, shelving, or placing items in proper storage locations; or transporting goods by hand truck, cart, or wheelbarrow.
Assistant Mess Hall Manager (may also be called Supervisor)
Assistant Mess Hall Manager provides necessary supervision and personnel oversight to AbilityOne employees as required to support Mess Hall operations.
