QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Question: The Cisco SX20 cannot natively support dual camera feeds; we would recommend upgrading to the SX80 to allow for more flexibility and robustness in connectivity, otherwise the cameras will have to be ran through a separate switcher. Please confirm what direction should be taken.
Answer: The requirements are for the VTC to support multi-point (capability to do video on one camera and push a PowerPoint to the distant end), support at least 2 cameras, and not be at "End of Life" by the manufacturer. Both the Cisco SX80 and the Polycom RPG 720 meet these requirements but the Cisco SX20 does not.
Question: The CP3 does not have enough RS-232 connections to control all intended devices; we would recommend the Pro3. Please confirm which direction should be taken.
Answer: Recommend like equipment that is capable of supporting the required connections.
Question: The Belkin F1DN102B is not a “Kernel-Based Virtual Machine” but a secure Keyboard / Video /
Mouse switch. Please confirm if a kernel based virtual machine is required for this installation.
Answer: Dependent upon configuration, a secure KVM switch is required to switch from SIPR to NIP
VTC.
Question: What is the physical layer transport medium for the SIPR network into the space?
Answer: SIPR connection is through Ethernet (IP), which is terminated in the conference in a lock box.
Question: Who will provide all necessary fiber optic converters?
Answer: If required, the contractor will provide any fiber optic converters.
Question: Will a TACLANE encryption be required?
Answer: No, SIPR IP is available in the conference room.
Question: Who will provide the TACLANE encryption?

Question: DSP 12 is not a valid Biamp part number. Please clarify.
Answer: TesiraFORTÉ TI, if required, as it is based on the system engineered.
Question: What is the existing lighting control system?
Answer: Standard lighting, no dimming function.
Question: What is the interface to the existing lighting control system?
Answer: Standard lighting, no dimming function.
Question: Under the podium section, “Connection to SIPR/NIPR” is referenced:
1. Is this in regards to video connectivity to the room A/V system?
2. Are dedicated video feeds required to the A/V system, 1 NIPR and 1 SIPR?
3. Is this in regards to network connectivity?
4. Who is responsible for network connections to the room/podium?
Answer: The room has both a SIPR and NIPR connection. Request the podium have wired connections to to both SIPR/NIPR/ and connections to displays.
Question: What classification levels will be presented in this space?
Answer: Secret
Question: Has the base’s information assurance officer approved a single codec solution for multiple classification levels? Only unclassified and Secret
Answer: Only unclassified and Secret
Question: Which does the VTC need I/P or ISDN?
Answer: I/P only.
Question: Is the current projection screen installed smaller than the requested screen of at least 123”?
Answer: Yes, the current projection screen is smaller. Requirement calls for installation of a recessed screen.
Question: The televisions that are currently installed, is that were the new screens will be placed?
Answer: Yes, all televisions (including smart) will be installed in the same location as the existing.
Question: How many cameras? What is the overall objective? Overall view of the conference room meeting or close up individual?
Answer: Would like the capability to have both vantage points.

Answer: No. Contractor will install ready for connection. Connection to electrical will be done by base facilities. Capability to control the shades does need to be established with the touch screen control panel.
Question: How many pre-sets do you require for the control panel?
Answer: Depends on the capabilities of the equipment installed. At least capability to when going to secured network to draw the shades.
Question: Would you like the shades to be its own selection on the control panel?
Answer: Yes. The ability to keep them up or down at the discretion of the meeting being conducted.
Question: What is the overall objective in regards to the lighting system? Who will be responsible for the electrical aspect?
Answer: There are five light boxes in the room. The objective is to permit them to be dimmed when conferences are being done on the screens to reduce glare. The electrical aspects will be the
Government’s responsibility to install.
