Marine Band Display Cases Q&A
| Q1: | The name of this denotes there is a platform or base for the acrylic. What finish is this (primed, painted, laminate, wood veneer) and what are the dimensions, in particular the height? |
| A1: | As stated in the requirements, we’re requesting a 36" x 36" x 72” glass platform case. This shall be glass – not acrylic. The material shall be medium density fiberboard (MDF), furniture grade birch or poplar plywood, or other premium material. Wood must be painted. Exterior color preference is black. |
| Q2: | What material are you envisioning for the back of the case? We can do laminate, linen-wrapped, or slatwall. |
| A2: | Laminate. |
| Q3: | Is the entire back of the case to be removable or does it just need to have removable interior panels? All of our cases are made with these pieces screwed into place, so they are well secured but able to be disassembled. Does this need to be more easily removed? |
| A3: | We do not need to remove the back of the platform case so no reason for it to be removeable. |
| Q4: | Are the “half shelves” half the depth of the case and half the width? If so, we would add three vertical tracks to the back panel of the case. This may affect the removable back feature, but we could also put the tracks in between two separate removable panels. (See drawing below) |
| A4: | We’d like the modular shelves for the tall case to be half the width but the full depth. That way, we could mount a descriptive card or document describing the smaller item on display, and affix card/document to back of case, beside the item. |
| Q5: | CLIN 0001: (One) Table Vitrine- Are handles needed and if so what color? |
| A5: | Handles are not needed |
| Q6: | CLIN 0002: (One) Glass Platform Case- What is the desired back color, frame color, laminate, and cornice? |
| A6: | For the table vitrine and glass platform case - black frame/laminate/cornice with black interior. For the wall vitrines we’d prefer a color that matches the wall which would be closer to a beige. Black interior for all. |
| Q7: | CLIN 0003 & 0004- What fabric colors are desired? |
| A7: | Fabric colors shall be black or a similarly dark color. |
| Q8: | Also, please confirm that sample/stock products attached are aligned to the desired products. Note that each of the items will be customized to the exact dimensions in the Solicitation. |
A8—A: Item 1 (above) – We need a taller acrylic vitrine than what appears to be pictured. 16 inches in height will suffice. Also, this photo looks like furniture, not a custom manufactured museum-quality case as specified in the SOW.
A8-B: Item 3/4 Example 1 (above) – This is not correct. We don’t want a wall vitrine with a shelf and this one is far too deep. We want a flat display case where we can pin ephemera and small items to the back.
A8-C: Item 3/4 Example 2 (above) – This is also incorrect. See prior reply
A8-D: Item 2 (above) – This is close but we’d prefer one smooth glass piece on each side instead of panes or divisions unless those panes are dowels for shelving and are removable.
