About this file
The document is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Form issued by the City of Fort Myers, Florida, designed to support the city's MBE goal of 15% for the Parks & Rec Pavilion Replacements project. The form provides a structured template for prime contractors and subcontractors to document their good faith efforts in engaging minority-owned businesses, including steps for recording transmittal letters, telephone/in-person visits, handling incomplete quotations, and explaining non-utilized MBE firms.
The form requires detailed documentation of MBE contractor information, including firm name, contact details, contract amount, labor/service costs, materials costs, and a description of work to be performed. The goal is to ensure transparency and active participation of minority-owned businesses in the city's procurement process, with contractors required to provide evidence of outreach efforts such as certified mail receipts, communication records, and explanations for any MBE firms not ultimately selected. This approach aims to promote diversity and equal opportunity in municipal contracting while maintaining a systematic and accountable process for vendor selection.
