About this file

The document is a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Form issued by the City of Fort Myers, Florida, designed to support the city's resolution 38-125 which establishes a 15% MBE participation goal for local contracts. The form is specifically related to the Racquet Club Tennis Courts project, which involves constructing five hard tennis courts at 1750 Matthew Drive, including new court fencing and replacing existing grass surfaces. The form provides a structured template for prime contractors and subcontractors to document their good faith efforts in engaging minority-owned businesses, with detailed sections for recording contractor information, MBE contractor details, transmittal letter records, telephone/in-person contact logs, and explanations for any incomplete quotations or non-utilized MBE vendors.

The MBE form serves as a procedural tool to ensure diversity and inclusion in the city's contracting process, requiring detailed documentation of outreach efforts to minority-owned businesses. Contractors must complete six distinct steps: providing prime and MBE contractor information, documenting transmittal letters sent to potential MBE vendors, recording communication methods and interactions, explaining any non-responsive quotations, and documenting reasons for not utilizing a valid MBE bid. The form's comprehensive nature demonstrates the City of Fort Myers' commitment to creating opportunities for minority-owned businesses by mandating transparent and thorough documentation of engagement efforts during the bidding and contractor selection process.
