About this file
This document is a user guide for the City of Long Beach's Long Beach Buys procurement platform, powered by Periscope. The guide provides comprehensive instructions for Seller Administrators responsible for maintaining user accounts, organizational information, and procurement settings within the system. The document covers four primary administrative functions: adding new users with either Seller or Seller Administrator roles, maintaining existing users through status changes and password resets, managing organizational addresses for mailing and bidding purposes, and maintaining commodity codes and services that determine bid notifications. New users receive system-generated temporary passwords upon account creation, and administrators can modify user roles, inactivate accounts, or reset passwords as needed. Address management allows vendors to add and edit multiple address types including general mailing addresses and bid mailing addresses with associated contact information and alternative communication methods.
The guide emphasizes the role of Seller Administrators in controlling account access and ensuring accurate organizational data within the Long Beach Buys system. Commodity code maintenance enables vendors to search for and add product and service codes to their accounts using keyword searches or dropdown category selections, which directly impact the bid opportunities a vendor receives through automated notifications. The system provides flexibility for vendors to manage multiple users with different permission levels, maintain various addresses for different business purposes, and customize their commodity code selections to align with their business offerings. No pricing, set-aside programs, contract terms, or funding information is addressed in this user guide, as it serves exclusively as a technical instruction manual for platform navigation and account administration.
