Pre-Bid Site Visit
April 13, 2015

Questions (Q) and Answers (A)
Site #1 – 27-10-4.1 MP 0.57 Honcho Creek Culvert Replacement
Q1: There are a lot of boulders at the upstream. Could these boulders be used and be placed at the downstream as shown on sheet 6 of solicitation Attachment 3-
Drawings?
A1: Yes, they could be used and be placed at the downstream for slope protection and/or bank protection.
Q2: At the upstream area, there are a lot of debris and one felled tree. Where should the debris be placed?
. A2: The debris should be placed and scattered at the vegetation area at northeast of the culvert.
Q3: In regards to the embedment material for inside the new culvert, is 40% of the native streambed sediment coming from the existing streambed as shown on sheet 8 of solicitation Attachment 3-Drawings?
A3: “Native streambed sediment” shall be “river-run material” as indicated in specification section 02725-River-Run Culvert Interior Embedding Mix.
Q4: Could the slide at the upstream be cut and removed before placing the riprap for bank protection as shown on sheet 9 of solicitation Attachment 3-
Drawings.
A4: Yes.
Site #2 – Reconstruction Ditch and Road Surface
Q5: There are woody debris on the road between the slumped (Site #4) and culvert replacement (Site #1) sites. Where shall the debris be placed after removal?

A5: The removed debris shall be placed with the vegetation along the road.
Q6: Should be holes of the ditch line be filled?
A6: Yes.
Site #3 – Remove Plugging and Replace Existing Stream Culvert
Q7: There are a lot of sediment and plugging at the inlet area. Should the sediment be removed for the placement of the dam?
A7: After the dam is constructed and if the sediment at the inlet area is still remaining, then the sediment should be placed and compacted into the ditch line.
Site #4 – Reconstruction Slumped Embankment
Q8: There is a huge boulder with big boulders surrounding it. Does this huge boulder have to be removed?
A8: Yes, the “huge rock” shall be removed as indicated on sheet 13 of the drawings.
Q9: There is a slide from uphill; should the slide be removed?
A9: There should be a small cut as shown on sheet 13 of the drawings. The road would be the realignment as shown on the drawing on sheet 11.
Waste/Borrow Area for Honcho
Q10: There are a lot vegetation and debris at the borrow area. Could these piles of debris and vegetation be placed at the designated vegetation deposit area?
A10: Yes.
Slide Creek Road
Q11: There are existing riprap at the edge of the road. After compacting the backfill, should the riprap be placed back onto the slope?
A11: Yes.
Q12.Should the excavated material be hauled and placed at the designated waste area.
A12: Yes.
Q13: Is work required for the existing pipe on this road?

A13: The pipe is in good condition and does not need to be replaced.
