Illinois Class A/B UST Online Operator Course for Dispensing or Generator Facility (4-Year Certification)

If you are a Class A/B UST Operator of a motor fuel dispensing facility (e.g., gas station, convenience store, etc.), this is the course for you. This course will fulfill your Class A/B Certification requirement and is approved by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM).

Illinois updated their UST regulations to incorporate the revised 2015 Federal UST requirements with an effective date of October 13, 2018. Petro Classroom’s Class A/B/C course reflects these updates and includes compliance deadlines for the major provisions.

Class A and B Operators must complete the following 8 chapters in order to obtain their Illinois Class A/B/C UST Operator Certificate:

Chapter 1: Introduction This chapter provides an overview of the Federal Regulations governing UST systems. A/B UST Operators will learn how preventing UST compliance and operational issues will decrease maintenance costs and increased profits for their facilities.

Chapter 2: Components of Tank Systems This chapter is an in-depth look at the components of a UST tank system and common equipment issues that may cause leaks and require regular monitoring, maintenance and repair.

Chapter 3: Release Detection and Reporting This chapter delves into the various methods of release detection in compliance with state and federal law and the importance of proper installation and maintenance of monitoring equipment.

Chapter 4: State Requirements This chapter will discuss the specific and unique requirements of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM).

Chapter 5: Temporary & Permanent Closure This chapter discusses the rule requirements and recordkeeping for placing a tank in temporary closure or permanent closure and changing the service of a tank.

Chapter 6: Operator Training This chapter defines the duties and responsibilities of the Class A, B and C Operators as well as the certification training and documentation requirements for each class of operator.

Chapter 7: Class C Operator Training This chapter provides an overview of the tank field and the components of a tank system along with an in-depth look at emergency response procedures and the responsibilities of a Class C Operator. This is the actual course your Class C Operators will need to take in order to become Class C Certified. It is a great review on what the Class C Operator needs to know and what you as a Class A or B Operator are responsible for making sure they know.

Chapter 8: Inspections This chapter will cover the State’s compliance inspections and the mandated periodic owner/operator inspections (e.g., 30-Day Walkthrough Inspections) as set forth by the 2015 UST Regulations.

Upon completion, participants will be able to print their Certificates of Completion.

Petro Classroom’s Learning Management system will store the certificate and renewal notifications will be sent out prior to the expiration date.

Class C UST Online Operator Course

Petro Classroom’s online Class C Operator training provides clerks and non-management personnel of petroleum storage tank facilities (Class C Operators) with an easy-to-use online training course that can be completed anytime, anywhere, in approximately 30 minutes.

Our goal is to alleviate the burden on managers (Class B Operators) who must ensure there is a Certified Class C Operator present at their petroleum storage tank facilities.

Petro Classroom’s online Class C Operator Training gives owners (Class A Operators) of petroleum storage tank facilities peace-of-mind that their on-site personnel will be properly trained to address emergency and non-emergency situations that may arise.

Petro Classroom’s online Class C Operator Training course not only meets, but exceeds the Federal EPA and the state’s requirements for the Class C Operator training.

Class C Operators will learn:

• a basic understanding of a petroleum storage tank system

• to be aware of the signs/signals of potential petroleum releases or spills and how to respond

• step-by-step procedures and safety precautions in the event of an emergency

• safe fueling practices by customers and delivery companies.

Class C Operators will also be provided with a Certificate of Completion and a site-specific checklist, to review with their managers, to ensure they become familiar with their facility.

Corporate Account

Petro Classroom will assist the IL DOT in setting up a free corporate account to manage all of their employees’ compliance training. Our corporate accounts feature:

• easy course distribution

• employee course tracking

• storage of downloadable compliance certificates

• downloadable status reports (.txt and .cvs format)
