REPLACE ROOFS VERNON & RAPIDES UNITS
FCC OAKDALE, LOUISIANA
LISTED BELOW ARE QUESTIONS THAT WERE SUBMITTED. ANSWERS ARE PROVIDED IN HIGHLIGHT
What are the requirements on the wire mesh indicated on the insulation installation method detail on sheet 4? How is the wire mesh to be installed? Chicken Wire or Metal Screen will suffice for the wire mesh material, as long as it can support the weight of the batten insulation material. This is ONLY a suggested method, and not a mandatory construction method. For installation, we suggest using screws, staples, or any other form of fastener that will support the weight of the installations.
The transition details on sheet 8 indicate that there is an underlayment installed under the metal panels. Is this required for the current specified system? What is the requirements for this underlayment? An underlayment will not be required. Sheet 8 is a suggested method of transitions, and may vary depending on manufactures installation / warranty requirements.
One of the transition details on sheet 8 gives indication of some type of rigid material between the substrate and the underlayment. What is this? Sheet 8 is a suggested method of transitions, not a mandatory construction method and may vary depending on manufactures installation / warranty requirements.
In lieu of removing the plywood decking and insulation, and installation of wire mesh, batt insulation, and 2x6 wood sleepers, could a rigid polyisocyanurate board insulation be installed over the existing plywood deck to achieve R-Value required and the panels installed over the rigid polyisocyanurate board insulation? No, repair technique stated in the specification is are to be followed; to remove the current metal sheathing, remove the plywood decking, remove the old insulation, repair trusses as needed, install new insulation, install sleepers, and install new metal sheathing.
