Question #1: Bldg 446 has a severe problem on the decks on the rear on the North side. It appears the existing decks are tilted to the north due to bldg movement. If we attach new decks how can we be certain the movement will not cause damage to the new decks?
Answer #1: The Contractor shall construct new decks in accordance with the drawings and specifications, while assuming that primary settling is complete.
Question # 2: Building 455 and 443 are only two story buildings. Please note that on a mod to provide a fair bidding advantage.
Answer #2: Bldg 455 is a two story building. Bldg 443 is a partially two story and partially three story building.
Question #3: Is it possible to renovate three buildings at the same time. The specification suggests two but due to schedule constraints and winter it would help if doing three was possible.
Answer #3: It is possible to renovate three buildings at the same time, so long as the contractor uses three independent work crews. Work on the three buildings must be completed before moving on to the next buildings.
Question #4: Detail A4 on Dwg. A401 shows to use 5/4 by 6 decking on decks. There is plastic deck boards on some existing decks. Is detail A4 correct?
Answer #4: For bidding purposes assume that detail A4 is correct. Minor alterations may exist on some buildings, and this would be addressed during construction.
Question #5: The dwgs. refer to Base Bid, Option 1 and Option 2 but the solicitation has no place to insert the pricing in that format, please clarify.
Answer #5: The 1st paragraph of Section B of the IFB states in Bold Capital lettering: NOTE: ALL REFERENCE TO OPTIONS WILL
BE IGNORED. THIS PROJECT EFFORT IS ALL INCLUSIVE.
Question #6: Please note when demo and replace rear decks, the CG will have to provide access to the contractor to allow temp barriers to be put in front of slider doors. How will this occur?
Answer #6: Arrangements can be made with Housing to notify the residents.
Review SECTION 01 14 00, paragraph 1.1.1 and 1.1.4 for work restrictions on occupied buildings.
