CONTRACTOR QUESTIONS
COAST GUARD RESPONSES
7/13/2011 QUESTION #1: Is the vessel to be located at the “New” CG pier on St Paul Harbor or will it be at CG Station Kodiak at the piers on Woman’s Bay?
RESPONSE #1: Base in Kodiak on Woman’s Bay.
QUESTION #2: Because of the overall small sizes of the tanks in these items, will the government consider preparing the surfaces for paint in Optional Work Items 18, 19, and 21 to SSPC –SP3?
RESPONSE #2: The Government will not waive the requirements for abrasive-SSPC SP-10, to allow for 100% of the designated tanks covered by Work Items 18, 19, and 21, no matter the size of the tanks.
QUESTION #3: What facilities ie: Electrical Power, Hazardous Waste Disposal, Compressed Air, will be available to the contractor at the Coast Guard Base?
RESPONSE #3: The Coast Guard will provide 110V power for Contractor use.
QUESTION #4: Item 13, paragraph 3.5.1 has a 12 week lead time ARO for the Bestweld Deck Drains, basically the project would be over by the time the drains showed up.
RESPONSE #4: Contractors do not have to use the “known source” as long as the fittings comply with the cited NAVSEA drawings.
QUESTION#5: Tank Painting Items: We have concerns that the cold water in Kodiak (40 degree range) will not allow the Tanks against the Hull to get to an acceptable steel temperature condition for paint applications.
RESPONSE #5: Waiting for response from Technical advisor.
