Questions and Responses
HC102819R0006
1 6.4.1 Task 4 PWS para. 6.4.1 , it mentions the strip doors should be “independently supported”. These would need to be attached to the ceiling grid or strut, if not attaching to the racks. Is the ceiling grid or strut? And what is the height above finish floor (AFF)?
Response: Strip doors should be independently supported per the manufacturer’s recommendations utilizing strut or other support means. Ceiling grid is not allowed. Attachment to existing racks is not permitted.
2 5.3 Task 1 Item CS8364 is intended to be attached to a cord. Is the intent of this Task is to install a 50 AMP 3 phase, 4 conductor, 250 volt receptacle in a junction box below the floor and then connect a premade cord will connect to the receptacle? Does this item need to be made in the USA? Will it be approved to downsize the ground conductor per the NEC?
Response: The PWS as written identified the twist-lock device to be connected at the end of LFMC and not cord. All that is required is the CS8364 device. Customer cord will be provided for final connection to IT equipment. All material needs to comply with the Buy America act. The ground conductor for each circuit must be code compliant for the 50 amp OCD supplying each circuit with no de-rating.
3 5.4 Task 2 Do the male plugs need to be purchased as well for these receptacles?
Does this item need to be made in the USA? Will be allowed to downsize the ground conductor per the
NEC?
Response: No. Customer power cords and mail plug devices are provided by others.
4 6.3 Task 3 Will there be any ground connection to the existing IT cabinets? If so please provide the quantity and the size of the conductor that will be connecting from the Burndy YH292C 2/0 ground wire. This connector is made to have a pig tail attached to it. What are the government approved equals?
Response: No. Installation of the bare ground wire and attachments is all that is required. IT cabinet connection will be provided by others.
5 6.4.1 Task 5 Provide a make and model of the existing IT cabinets to ensure the proper fit of the new blanks.
Response: IT cabinet configuration is provided by others. Make and model are not available but anticipated to be equivalent to APC AR3350 cabinet. The requirement in the PWS identifies adjustable blanking panels. These panels may be a curtain type of material adjustable to the width of the opening.
6. What are the heights of IT Racks “RR01”, “RR14”, “RR13” and “CAB 04”?
Response: All racks should be the same dimensions. Estimated height for this rack is 78.4”.
7. Can brackets be mounted to existing IT racks to hang “strip curtains” from?
Response: No. Attachment is not permitted to customer cabinets.
8. Would drilling into IT cabinets for mounting curtains be allowed?
Response: No. Drilling is not allowed to customer cabinets.
9. Would DITCO / DISA consider a magnetically-attached sliding AisleLok door in lieu of “strip curtains”? Product datasheet(s) or product video (weblink) are available upon request.
Response: Additional information is requested. The strip curtains are necessary at the end of the aisle to contain the cold air coming up through the raised floor vent tiles. Strip curtains allow for personnel access/egress from cold aisle area. AisleLok doors appears to be a hinged door attached to the adjacent IT cabinet that does not meet the requirements exhibited by a strip curtain configuration.
Sect. 4.5 Pg. 4 - Requirement:
* Provide IT cabinet blanking panel to cover openings between cabinets.
Question(s):
10. What is distance between IT Racks “CAB 01” and “ENCL 03”?
Response: The estimated distance between cabinets is approximately 36”. Blanking panel should be adjustable to cover this opening not to exceed 48”.
11. What are the heights of IT Racks “CAB 01” and “ENCL 03”?
Response: All racks should be the same dimensions. Estimated height for this rack is 78.4”.
