Responses to Questions:
The Design Process is in actuality a submittal approval process. Contractor shall provide an initial design that consists of the submittals required under Section 14220, para 1.7 along with submittals for the related building components. The government will have 14 days to review the initial design (submittal package). Contractor shall provide a final design (submittal package) that reflects the design review comments and resolution. The SOW & Division 1 will be corrected to reflect this change.
Installation Schedule: The property manager desires the freight elevator (car 6) be completed first followed by passenger elevator 1. No repairs will be required of elevator 1. The contractor can begin the upgrade. The Interim Maintenance will begin upon issuance of Notice to Proceed with the construction.
Bidder’s may assume that there will be available storage space outside the building near the loading dock where they can store material in a container provided by them for the duration of the project. No space outside of elevator machine room spaces is available for storage within the building.
The government is contemplating changing the freight elevator to a new AC geared machine and the passenger elevators to new AC gearless machines. This will be updated in the Specifications.
The vertical access panel from floor 7 near the passenger elevators is located in the ceiling of the men’s bathroom.
