FTFA 03-1231 REPLACE HVAC BUILDING 129

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)-2

Q1:

In the architectural demo plans it calls for the ceilings to be removed, but it does not give any indication on what to do with the existing lighting or any ceiling mounted devices. The only place that shows any lighting is on the architectural new work, but still no indication what to do with the lighting. If you tie this up I’m not sure they will go back in the same place due to the routing of the new duct work. There is a demo legend on page E-100, but these symbols are not reflected on the electrical plans.

A1:

The contractor should provide supports from the lighting fixtures, and other ceiling mounted devices, to the existing structure above during demolition of the ceilings. The HVAC ductwork should be installed to avoid conflicts with the existing lights and ceiling mounted devices. When the new ceiling system is installed, the lights and ceiling mounted devices should be reinstalled in the new ceiling.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)-3

Q1:

Can the freight elevators be utilized by the contractor?

A1: Yes.

Q2:

There appears to be metal panels’ bottom of the second, third floors and roof. Most existing duct and pipe is hanging from this. To what extent can the new HVAC duct and pipe be supported from this?

A2: The contractor shall hang ductwork per the specifications 23 00 00, Metal Ductwork, para 3.2.5 and piping in accordance with 23 64 26, Structural Attachments, para. 3.1.10.11.

Q3:

How thick is the existing asphalt on the north side of bldg-129 where the new condenser water has to be installed?

A3: Typically, from 2 to 4 inches (thickness)

Q4:

The shortest distance to remove some of the existing equipment from the bldg would be to utilize the route thru Kings Hangar. Will this be allowed or will all demo have to exit directly from bldg-129?

A4: No.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)-4

Q1:

Will there be a lay down yard for storage trailer, dumpsters and equipment?

A1: Project’s Specification No. 12AW addresses this question. For further details refer to Temporary Construction Facilities and Controls, Section 01 50 00, Para 1.4 Construction Site Plan.

Q2:

Sheet G-001 Phasing Note 3- states 30 ton Temp Package Unit. Does this refer to TPHP-1, TPHP-2, and TPHP-3 or is this a separate unit?

A2: Refer to Drawing Set, Sheet M-602 - TPHP Schedule for further information. It is not a separate unit; Note 3 shows the total (approx.) capacity.
