FTFA 03-1231 REPLACE HVAC BUILDING 129
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)-5
Q1: What are the hours of the sheet metal shop? Will we be allowed to work while they are working within this area?
A1: The hours for the Sheet Metal Shop are 0630 - 2400 hours (Monday thru Friday and Weekends - per mission requirements). It will be possible with coordination (in advance) between facility managers, contracting officer and PM.
Q2: Will we be allowed to “Lock-out Tag-out” the overhead crane during regular sheet metal shop hours?
A2: The Crane issue, however, is a moving target. (Metals Tech shop uses as well) The Crane's use is based on our mission requirements which at times pop up unexpectedly.
I.e. when something (heavy) arrives that needs to be brought back to production machines, or product is finished and needs to be lifted / moved / lowered to a truck, the crane is required.
Once we get a firmer time frame- when it will actually be required to be "locked out", we will do our best to advance schedule / accommodate / advance position items (be flexible). If contractor can be flexible too, we should be able to work around / complete mission requirements, while locking the crane in place for their required period of time.
It will be possible with coordination (in advance) between facility managers, contracting officer and PM.
Q3: The existing and new condenser water piping will require the digging a hole and the removal of asphalt at the side door to the sheet metal shop. How long will we be allowed to have the hole open? Will be required to provide temporary plate to allow access while excavation is open?
A3: Project’s Specification No. 12AW addresses this question. For further details refer to Temporary Construction Facilities and Controls, Section 01 11 00, para 1.5. Also, refer to Section 01 35 26, Governmental Safety Requirements and Temporary Construction Facilities and Controls, Section 01 50 00.
Q4: Will we be required to have a ramp stamp to transfer equipment around the hangar?
A4: No equipment should be transferred around the hangar.
Q5: Will we be allowed to locate construction dumpsters adjacent to the building?
A5: Project’s Specification No. 12AW addresses this question. For further details refer to Temporary Construction Facilities and Controls, Section 01 50 00, para 1.4 Construction Site Plan and para 3.4 Contractor's Temporary Facilities.
Q6: Prior to demolition several of the doors between Building 129 and the hanger have to be secured. Are any of the secured doors “Life Safety”?
A6: Yes. Project’s Specification No. 12AW addresses this question. For further details refer to Temporary Construction Facilities and Controls, Section 01 50 00, Para 3.3 Traffic Provisions, 3.3.1 Maintenance of Traffic (c) and must comply NFPA 101.
Q7: Reviewing the access to the rooftop for the temporary units and the limited access. Would an optional location be available for the units be allowed?
A7: No, unless any unforeseen circumstances determine such request.
Q8:What is the thickness of the asphalt that will have to be replaced at the cooling tower?
A8: 2 to 4 inches.
Q9: Specification section 23 09 23 refers to the controls as being LonWorks. The drawings, sheet M-701 note 16 states the controls are to be BacNet. Please resolve.
A9: The DDC System is BACnet (SEC 23 09 23.13 20)
