About this file
This document is a bid award notification from the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative Association, Inc. (FKEC) for Bid #25-26, which covers the purchase and consignment of electric transformers. The bid was awarded to two vendors: GRESCO UTILITY SUPPLY/ERMCO and EATON/WESCO DISTRIBUTION on August 4, 2025. FKEC explicitly notes that this was not a public bid opening and they will not be sharing the specific details of the winning proposal.
The cooperative has strategically positioned itself to protect vendor and bidder privacy by citing Florida Statute Title X, Chapter 119, which they argue does not classify FKEC as a "state and local government agency". Consequently, they are not subject to the full enforcement of public records statutes. FKEC has provided a link to the relevant statutory information to help interested parties understand the application of the "Sunshine Law" in this context, reinforcing their stance on maintaining confidentiality in their procurement processes.
