About this file

This document describes a federal contract opportunity for licensed and unlicensed mariner support services. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) requires contract personnel to support its fleet of research and survey vessels. OMAO's fleet conducts fisheries research, nautical charting, and ocean and climate studies. The contract mariners will fill gaps in OMAO's existing workforce and support a wide variety of specialized ships. Required positions include a First Assistant Engineer, who will report to the Chief Engineer and assist in operating, maintaining, and preserving all engine department machinery and equipment. The First Assistant Engineer must have an appropriate U.S. Coast Guard license and certification as well as experience with shipboard systems, vessel operations, maintenance, repairs, and computerized maintenance management.
