About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal solicitation for nonlinear frequency conversion devices. The solicitation seeks commercial off-the-shelf devices that can convert a 500 mW pump wavelength to single photon output levels across 20 waveguides of varying performance between 4-10 cm in length. The cascade length and phase matching temperatures are left to proposers to optimize for highest conversion efficiency, within preferred ranges of 30-90 degrees Celsius. Unique identifiers will be required for each of the four total devices procured under the two line items, to facilitate delivery and invoicing to the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory.

Questions & Answers Document

Q: The two-line items for this solicitation have two different stages for a total of 4 devices. Each device will end up with its own part number unique to the interaction. I believe sending four different items each with a different PN and UID tags for a contract with two-line items may cause complications when delivering and invoicing for these items. Please advise.

A: One UID per device and keep the UIDs separate as there will be no way to attach them to the devices

Q) Are you looking for an “off the shelf” or R&D” device?

A) Market research results indicate that there are commercial items available that meet the specifications listed in this solicitation.

Questions regarding the array of 20 waveguides and the target device of length ~4cm—

Q1)Do all 20 waveguides in each chip need to be identical in terms of performance?
A1)They do not, better if they do but no a necessity
Q2)What is the available pump and required minimum output for each wavelength?
A2)500 mW of Pump and the transduced wavelengths are on the single photon level
Q3)Do you have specific cascading length? For example, 20mm+20mm or 10mm+30mm?
A3)No we do not. The ratio that gives the highest conversion efficiency is left to the propsers.
Q4)Do you have preferred range of PMT(phase matching temperature)?
A4)Between 30-90 C, ideally between 30-60 C
