About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to federal contract solicitation number FA875123Q0144 for Nonlinear Frequency Conversion Devices issued by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Research Laboratory. The questions focus on technical details of the required array of 20 waveguides and target device, including whether all waveguides need identical performance, available pump power and required minimum output levels for each wavelength, preferred cascading lengths and phase matching temperatures. Acceptable phase matching temperatures range from 30 to 90 degrees Celsius, ideally between 30 and 60 degrees. Respondents are advised that while each of the four devices will have a unique part number, keeping the unique identification tags separate during delivery and invoicing is recommended as there is no way to attach them to the individual devices.

Questions & Answers Document

Q: The two-line items for this solicitation have two different stages for a total of 4 devices. Each device will end up with its own part number unique to the interaction. I believe sending four different items each with a different PN and UID tags for a contract with two-line items may cause complications when delivering and invoicing for these items. Please advise.

A: One UID per device and keep the UIDs separate as there will be no way to attach them to the devices

Questions regarding the array of 20 waveguides and the target device of length ~4cm—

Q1)Do all 20 waveguides in each chip need to be identical in terms of performance?
A1)They do not, better if they do but no a necessity
Q2)What is the available pump and required minimum output for each wavelength?
A2)500 mW of Pump and the transduced wavelengths are on the single photon level
Q3)Do you have specific cascading length? For example, 20mm+20mm or 10mm+30mm?
A3)No we do not. The ratio that gives the highest conversion efficiency is left to the propsers.
Q4)Do you have preferred range of PMT(phase matching temperature)?
A4)Between 30-90 C, ideally between 30-60 C
