ADDITIONAL INFORMATION #2

The following represents additional information as of 27 SEP 2017:

Q: Are scrubbers necessary on lift exhausts?

A: Contrary to the answer provided in “Additional Information #1”, scrubbers ARE necessary on lift exhausts.

Q: Is cleaning inside paint booths in scope?

A: No, but cleaning above the booths is required.

Q: Cleaning with distilled water is mentioned in the specs. Is this necessary, or can potable/municipal water be used?

A: Distilled water only.

Q: Insulation batts/blankets are falling away from the underside of the arched roof in the high bay? Must these be replaced? What should be done about these?

A: Contractor shall remove and dispose of any insulation that has fallen and prevents or impedes work on this requirement.

Q: Specifications delineate government/contractor clean-up responsibility at 8 feet. Does this line hold true at mezzanine floors, too, or is the 8 feet calculated from earth/ground floor level?

A: The line is 8 feet above earth/finished first floor level.

Q: Some pipes identified as requiring insulation abatement appear to be dead, no longer in use. Specifications require re-insulation after abatement. Would it be possible to omit, waive, or delete re-insulation of dead pipes?

A: Contractor shall re-insulate all pipes that are abated, regardless if they are in service or not.

Q: Since the project is going to be during the peak of our heating season, can steam heat be turned off to abate and reinsulate.

A: B101 steam can be isolated as required. Also, certain sections of the steam system can be isolated depending on the existing valving arrangement.
