Paragraph Description
1. 3.2.1.1. The COTR shall select three joists. At the midpoint of the joists, the distance from the bottom of the joist to the floor will be measured in inches and recorded as M1. A minimum of three pallets weighing 200 pounds per square foot shall be placed over the joists. After a continuous 4 hours, the distance from the midpoint of the joist to the floor will be measured in inches and recorded as M2. The deflection shall be calculated by using the following formula:
(M1 - M2) / (Span of joist in inches) = Deflection
If the deflection is greater than (Span of joist in inches)/360 or any permanent deformation has occurred, the mezzanine shall fail the test.
2. 3.2.2.1. The lighting under the mezzanine shall be turned on. Test the lighting with a light meter 30 inches from the floor. If the lighting is not a minimum of 50 foot-candles then the system shall fail the test.
