Question Set 5 (ANSWERED)

Pease ANGB

Vertical Carousels

3.2.11 and 3.3.9 Hand Crank and Back Up Power If a back-up power cable is required in the event of a power outage, then the requirement for a hand-crank is redundant. Additionally, this would restrict competition as this feature is only available from one vertical carousel manufacturer. Please advise.

Redundancy is essential, both features shall be included.

3.2.12 Work Counter

Can the work counter be positioned at 45” above the floor.

Work counters shall be at specified heights and locations.

3.2.15 Containers

There are several Akro-Mils containers that are close in dimensions to the sizes specified for Type A and B in varying thicknesses and styles. Please identify the Akro-Mils part number referenced so the appropriate equivalent can be determined.

The contractor shall propose the closest dimensions to specification, not allowing for loss of storage volume.

3.2.16 Fire Suppression System

Are drawings, inspection records and specifications for the Fire Suppression system currently installed in Building 262 available to review to insure that the successful contractor can be compliant with applicable requirements?

The drawings can’t be provided at this time. Detailed drawings will be reviewed at Post Award.

Turret Truck System Operation 3.2.1.1 Our concern would be the side with the vertical carousels. That aisle is only showing 11’ 8” from the edge of the rack. Our man up turret truck is 12’ 2” in head length alone not counting the pallet which would add a few more inches. We require at least 14’ which they have on the other side, so the top two aisle are fine but we want to point out that that side with the verticals would be impossible to turn.

Looking at the drawing we see the 11’ 8” being an issue.

The turret truck is only intended for use in pallet rack ‘A’ aisles. The trucks are intended to be driven forward in, then backed out. Floor space is very limited in this facility. Small pick vehicles are intended for use with pallet rack ‘A1’.
