Q: On drawing E303 there are Data/Communications outlets, patch panels and cabling shown, is this work in the scope of the project?
A: Yes.
Q: If the above work is in the scope of the project can you have a specification issued which will detail the requirements of the work?
A: Addendum 01 will be issued to add specification section 27 10 00, titled “Building Telecommunications Cabling System”. Addendum 01 will also clarify the location of the cabling endpoint for areas A and B.
Q: Does the existing computer equipment located in the rooms to be renovated need to stay active, and therefore require constant cooling, during the renovation process? If yes, how will the situation of no cooling to these areas when the existing HVAC equipment is removed and prior to the new HVAC equipment being installed and made operational be addressed?
A: Yes. See keynote 6 on drawing sheet AD-100, keynote 13 on drawing sheet A-101 and plan note 2 on drawing sheet H201. The temporary cooling load for the two existing server racks will be provided in addendum 01.
Q: Will x-raying of the floor be required prior to floor penetrations being made for the new HVAC piping that is to be installed from the mechanical room thru the mechanical room ceiling (floor above) up to the computer rooms?
A: No. However, It is the responsibility of the contractor to perform work with due diligence with respect to protecting the existing building components. X-raying the floor prior to core drilling is an acceptable means of providing this due diligence. If this method is used, pay attention to general note K on drawing sheet G-002.
Q: Will making the tie-in connections of the new 4" CHS and CHR piping to the existing 16" CHS and CHR lines in the mechanical room require a complete shutdown of this chilled water system, or are there existing valves that will allow isolation of the existing 16" CHS and CHR lines at these new tie-in connection locations?
A: Yes. A system shutdown of the chilled water system will be required. There is not sufficient valving to permit the work to be done without a shutdown.
Q: Will the existing office partitions and office furniture be removed by others prior to the HVAC work being done in the office areas?
A: Yes.
Q: I would have to know what the existing Fire Alarm Panel they have before I could even start to price this out on the Fire Alarm. Can this information be provided?
A: The existing fire alarm panel shown on drawing sheet FA201 is a Simplex 4100U. This information will be added to Note 1 on drawing sheet FA201 with Addendum 01.
Q: Can you give us more detail on what is required for electrical connections to the GFGI Server Racks.
For example what type of plugs/receptacles that will be required?
A: Additional clarification will be provided to Plan Note 4 on drawing sheet E300 via Addendum 01.
Q: I count 16 new racks. The panel schedule shows 5 new 30 amp feeds and 2 new 50 amp feeds. Is there any way we can get a more specific lay-out on how the racks need to be fed?
A: Additional clarification will be provided to Plan Note 4 on drawing sheet E300 via Addendum 01.
Q: Do we need to provide patch panels and wire managers for the cabling in Area A similar Area B (note 5 on E303) or are these existing to be re-used?
A: The contractor shall provide new.
