Next Generation Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Pre-Solicitation Questions & Answers Round 2 13 Aug 2020

1. Question: The pre-solicitation document indicates the requirement for SCBA Airpak Only (No Mask) and provides specific quantities for base and option years. Is a breathing air cylinder included as part of these line items? If so, is there a requirement for spare cylinders? Typically, SCBA’s are procured with extra cylinders for the SCBA harness assemblies.

Answer: The specifications outlining the complete SCBA requirement will be released with the RFP. If questions remain after review of the specifications, please submit after RFP release.

2. Question: The draft purchase description document (7 February 2018) alluded to a filtration requirement. There is no mention of filter quantity or delivery time in the pre-solicitation. Is the filter quantity and delivery timeframe to be considered in the same quantity and delivery timeframe of the CWC mask? Is there a requirement for spare filters?

Answer: The specifications outlining the complete SCBA requirement will be released with the RFP. If questions remain after review of the specifications, please submit after RFP release.

3. Question: The pre-solicitation document identifies a development/qualification timeframe associated with a pre-production CWC mask. Is the intention to order all 3504 SCBA CWC units during the remaining 4 months of the BASIC period after the approximate 8-month-long (240 days) product qualification?

Answer: The quantity ordered will be based on available funding at the time.
