(Formerly AF Form 2601) AF Form 3927, Engineering Order (Parts List) (11 x 8-1/2, hor.) (Formerly AF Form 2601)

NOTE: Larger drawing sizes may be generated in accordance with ASME Y14.1, using current Air Force criteria as defined for E size drawings.

2.1 Continuation sheets: When AF Forms 1653 through 1656, and larger drawing formats sizes as defined in ASME Y14.1, are used to prepare multi-sheet drawings, and the forms are generated in a CAD system, the minimum title block described in ASME Y14.1, may be used for continuation sheets. All other features of the AF drawing forms, such as border, border sectioning, revision blocks, etc. are included. Identification as a continuation sheet is indicated by adding “(Continuation Sheet)” following the form name centered in the lower margin (i.e. ENGINEERING DRAWING LAYOUT D (Continuation Sheet).

3. Drawing Form Signature Block: If a contractor activity is creating the drawing, the technician (Tech) and Checker (CHK) blocks shall have the contractor’s employee’s names inserted. If a government activity is doing the drawing, the Technician and Checker block shall have AF employee’s names inserted. The other four blocks will always have AF employee’s names. The “Air Force Authentication” block shall have the Engineers supervisor’s name inserted. Names shall be printed on the drawing form in the appropriate blocks.

Contact the requiring office in block 6 of the DD Form 1423 or Engineering Data Management Specialist (EDMS), for the Government names to put in the appropriate signature blocks.

The drawing number located in the title block of sheet 1 shall be prefixed with an “X”. The "X" is removed by the draftsman after Air Force Release approval has been granted by the Engineering Data Management Specialist (EDMS). Note: For this document Air Force Release and EDMS are synonymous. On drawing forms, in the approval area, there shall be six blocks for names, as follows:

Tech (Contractor/Government)

CHK (Contractor/Government)

ENG (Government System Engineer)

CRSN (Corrosion) As Applicable

AIR FORCE AUTHENTICATION (Government Project Engineer’s Supervisor)

AIR FORCE RELEASE (Government Designated Activity)

4. Government Activity and Part Identification: The contractor shall use the Government activity identifier Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code and Air Force drawing numbers. The contractor shall contact the EDMS to obtain the drawing numbers.

4.1 Engineering Order (EO) Number Assignment: Contact the EDMS to acquire the EO number. All EO’s shall be incorporated into the Government drawing prior to the paper submittal for review and final submittal. The Government approved EO shall be delivered in TIFF or PDF format with the final delivery , as well as the revised Government drawing. Blocks 12 & 13 of the EO shall contain actual signatures prior to scanning.

4.2 Revision Rules: When multiple sheet drawings are in book form, all sheets may be identified by the same revision letter without regard to the specific sheet(s) to which the revision applies. Otherwise sheet one (1) always carries the highest revision which reflects the revision status of the group as a whole.

4.3 Delivery: New developed Government CAGE drawings shall be at basic revision upon final release. See the latest revision of Air Force (CAGE 98752) drawing 9579776 for content, format, and media requirements for delivery of Digital Engineering Data.

5. Suffix Identifiers (Formerly Dash Numbers): The suffix identifier is a numerical identification, appended to a drawing number to identify individual parts, assemblies or drawing types. All parts depicted on AF drawings will be identified with the appropriate suffix identifier as shown in the following paragraphs.

5.1 Detailed Suffix Identifiers: Use odd suffix identifiers on all defined detail items. Use even numbers for the opposite or mirror-image items. Do not use suffix identifiers ending in "9" or "0".

6. Control Drawings: Prepare control drawings for commercial or vendor items in accordance with ASME Y14.24.

7. General Notes: The General Notes area of the drawing shall be identified with the heading "NOTES". General Notes are located on sheet one (1) and continue on subsequent sheets as necessary. General Notes are located in the upper left hand corner for drawing sizes “B” “C” “D” “E” and "J". The General Notes column shall be positioned .50 to 1.00 inch down from the top border and .50 to 1.00 inch in from the side border. The General Notes column shall not exceed 8 inches in the horizontal direction.

All general notes shall be top to bottom in numerical sequence beginning with one (1).

7.1 Text Fonts: The standard font set that is basic to the CAD system shall be used.

7.2 Minimum Letter Height: Minimum letter heights per ASME Y14.2 shall be used.

8. Parts List: It is preferred that the Parts List shall be located on sheet one (1) and continued for as many sheets as necessary. When the Parts List extends into the General Notes area on sheet one (1) and any subsequent sheets, the General Notes must be indexed on the first sheet or subsequent sheets as to their location or their continuation (Parts List takes precedence over Notes). Parts List entry spaces shall be .50 inch high. When additional space is required, the height of the entry spaces shall be increased in increments of .50 inch. Each row shall be filled in. Blank rows shall be annotated “NOT USED”, “LEFT BLANK INTENTIONALLY”, etc. in the row or by being flagged and annotated in the notes within the field of the drawing.

8.1 Find Numbers: Within the Parts List all find numbers shall be identified with whole consecutive numbers beginning with one (1). Find Numbers within the field of the drawing shall be enclosed in a .50 inch diameter circle.

9. Deltas (Flagnote Symbols): The height of all deltas shall be .50 inch to flag notes. The applicable general note number appears within the flagnote symbol. (Circles shall not be used to flag notes).

10. Crowding of Drawings: AF drawings shall be drawn to allow room for growth, and/or changes/revisions. The contractor shall leave a minimum of three inches of blank space below the revision block to allow room for growth. Notes and Parts List shall also allow room for growth.

11. Drawing Entries: Entries on drawings shall be individual entries. Sub-Routines are not permitted.

12. Distribution Statement, Export Control Notice, and Destruction Notice: The instructions for Distribution Statement, Export Control Notice, and Destruction Notice listed in CDRL DD Form 1423 Technical Data Package (TDP) shall apply. When a DD Form 1423 for TDP's does not exist, the Engineering Data Management Specialist (EDMS) shall be contacted for proper markings.

13. Saving Air Force Drawings: The file naming convention shall be the drawing number indicated on the drawing in its entirety, without the X prefix (as mentioned in paragraph 3), including any applicable unique prefix identifier, such as PL (when applicable), then followed by the sheet number beginning with one (1) and continuing for additional sheets using consecutive whole integers, then by any applicable revision letter all separated by an underscore character. The file extension is then added on last, such as .dwg for native AutoCAD files. Include the unique suffix identifier (formerly called the dash number), only if it is actually part of the drawing number. For raster files (such as .tif) that are delivered in frames, the frame number shall be indicated by the letter “F” and the applicable frame number beginning with one (1) and continuing for additional frames using consecutive whole integers. This shall be inserted between the sheet number and the revision letter using an underscore character before and afterwards. There shall be no more than one underscore character in the filename consecutively.
