Building 2354 Library 4th floor Purchase of motorized solar shades

STATEMENT OF WORK
FOR PURCHASE OF MOTORIZED SOLAR SHADES, DELIVERY AND
INSTALLATION
USAFA WO#:
Project Title: Purchase motorized solar shades for windows on 4th floor of library, to include delivery and Installation Project Manager: Robin Witek Project Location: Fairchild Hall Library, Building 2354, 4th floor windows on north and south elevations

1. DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
A. PROJECT OVERVIEW FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES: The McDermott Library requires motorized solar shades on the 4th floor, north and south elevations. Only the requirements below are part of this contract.
B. FOR BIDDING PURPOSES
B.1. SUPPLY AND INSTALLATION OF NEW DRAPERY:
B.1.1. Window treatment installer shall be certified by window treatment manufacturer and be accompanied by a licensed electrician in supplying and installing the following:
1. 24 motorized solar shades, fabric to be 2 x 2 basket weave pattern to provide a uniform scrim effect at window wall for sun control.
Fabric content to be approx. 75% PVC and 25% polyester with an openness factor of 3%, medium grey color on inside and outside (such as the Mechoshade Thermoveil Dense Basket Weave 1500 Series or equal) for all windows on the 4th floor, north and south elevations. The new shades shall coordinate with the existing solar shades on the 3rd floor, east elevation. The fabric shall pass NFPA 701-2004 test.
a. Each window bay between columns is approx. 26 ft wide x 300 inches high and each bay requires 2—13 ft wide shades. These 2 shades will be outside mounted and will cover 1 mullion between 2 window banks and half of each of the 2 mullions on either end of each bank. There are 12 bays total; 6 banks per elevation. (sizes are rounded--field measurements are required) If seams are required to meet the overall shade dimensions, the seams must be located to align with the mullions, both vertically and horizontally when shades are fully open.
1. 24 shades total that are each approx.13 ft wide x 300 inches H to be motorized with a quiet Electronic Drive Unit (such as the WhisperShade IQ 2 Electronic Drive Unit or equal) to meet the requirements listed in this SOW. Each roller shall include a drive unit with advanced logic control with encoder and will be daisy-chained together along each elevation. Electronic drive unit to include minimum of 5 year non-depreciating warranty.
2. Each motor, mounted inside each of the shade tubes, will include a power connection and a communications connection. The power and communications both shall feed through the motor head at either the right or left side. Conduit for both power and communications lines is required. Any conduit that is existing can be utilized.
3. 5 button wall switches to control all operations up and down, including intermediate shade heights. Motorized operations to provide fixed, repeatable stop positions and minimum of 3 customizable intermediate stop positions. Solution is required to include all components to meet the requirements.
b. Existing wall mounted controls, located on the east wall, north and south elevations opposite the windows, will be required to be converted to accommodate new power and communication strategy that will operate the solar shades.
c. Fascias in anodized aluminum are required to conceal the rollers. These should match the existing shades and fascias on the east elevation on the 3rd floor. The all conduit for power and comm lines will be required to be hidden behind the fascias.
d. All existing drapery, track, motors, excess electrical control components and operators to be removed and disposed of by solar shade installers.
e. Bids to include all scaffolding as required to remove existing drapery and install new solar shades
f. Passenger elevators and a spiral stairway are located nearby.
B.1.2. Refer to power point in Appendix 1 for further illustrations of requirements
B.1.3. Solar shade fabricator shall coordinate all installations with CE Project Managers through the Contracting Officer.
B.1.6. Each shade fabricator providing bids shall provide fabric samples and hardware information of all items quoted for project.
C.1. GENERAL PROVISIONS:
C.1.1. The fabricator shall supply all labor, materials, transportation, equipment, and supervision to provide a complete, finished, functional product meeting USAFA Specifications.
C1.2. The work area will be confined to the applicable areas as shown in Appendix 1.
D.1. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
D.1.1. Coordinate work schedules with the USAFA Project Manager at least two (2) weeks in advance.
D.1.3. Any exceptions to this statement of work must be detailed in the contractor proposal.
E.1. DELIVERY, SETUP, and CLEANUP:
E.1.1. The shade fabricator/installer shall be responsible for any clean-up associated with the delivery and installation.
F.1. BADGING:
F.1.1. All contractor personnel shall have passes/badges obtained in accordance with USAFA procedures, not later than one (1) day prior to start of on-site work.
G.1. ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
G.1.1. The fabricator shall be responsible for all measurements of the site necessary to complete the installation of the window treatments.
Any window treatments that do not fit will be the fabricator’s responsibility to replace with the correct sized panels.
G.1.2. The Contractor shall be responsible for any damages to the building, its floors, its walls, etc. Any damages incurred by the drapery contractor shall be repaired at the cost of the drapery contractor.
