1. Is it the intention to disconnect the existing RTU’s, remove them, replace the curbs, install the appropriate flashings and then reinstall the RTU’s?
REPLY: PER NOTE 5 ON A-2, if HVAC unit removal/replacement is required it will be performed by the contractor.
1. There was discussion at the walkthrough about overhead protection for the front entrance. Since no work is taking place on that side of the building is the overhead protection still required? Is overhead protection required at any other entrance to the building?
REPLY: THIS IS ACCEPTABLE, OVERHEAD PROTECTION NOT REQUIRED FOR THIS ENTRANCE, TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT PERSONNEL ENTERING/LEAVING BUILDING WHO WILL BE DIRECTED TO USE THE FRONT ENTRANCE EXCEPT IN EMERGENCY. PROVIDE WARNING SIGNAGE AS INDICATED ON DRAWING NOTE.
1. Will the permanent antenna mast and installation hardware be provided by the 911th?
REPLY: NO CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE PER DRAWINGS
1. What is the manufacturer, material, thickness and color of the existing metal on this building to be matched?
REPLY: SEE ATTACHED SKETCH TAKEN FROM PREVIOUS PROJECT FOR REFERENCE. COLOR IS BRONZE, SUBMIT SAMPLES FOR MATCH.
1. For a laydown area, would it be possible to use the grassy area at the rear of the building as long as it is repaired (re-seeded) at the end of the project. For efficiency, the dumpster should be as close to the building as possible.
REPLY: YES
1. If we protect the NIC roof at the front of the building, can we stock materials at this location?
REPLY: DO NOT DAMAGE EXISTING ROOFING.
1. Page 4 of the solicitation notes there are to be (2) layers of 2” tapered insulation and coverboard. The deck is has structural slope so no tapered insulation is required. The spec does not list any coverboard and none are required for any warranty purposes.
REPLY: The issue is that the existing structure is sloped at 1/8” per foot, the current code requires 1/4” per foot. To meet code an additional 1/8” per foot of tapered insulation is needed. The coverboard provides a higher level of wind uplift rating for the membrane roof such as DensDeck by Georgia Pacific or an approved equal.
1. Section B & C of the solicitation mentions anticipated asbestos flashings to be present. Has asbestos testing been performed? How should abatement be addressed in the pricing of this bid? It is not likely that there would be any at the existing EPDM roofs but may be possible at the existing asphalt built-up roof area.
REPLY: Based on the age of the building which is 1993, our understanding is that the roof does not have ACM. However documents include procedures to follow if ACM is encountered.
1. The roof drawings do not have a scale. Can you please provide us with one?
REPLY: OVERALL ROOF PLAN SCALE INDICATED ON DRAWING
1. Per Section 01 22 00, Part 3, are we to submit a unit price for SF of decking with our proposal? If so, will a new bid form be provided with a line item for this? The current price/cost schedule only has one line item for the whole project.
REPLY: A unit price for metal roof deck will not be required. Contractor to include in the bid per base bid quantity: 300 square feet metal deck removal/replacement.
