Q&A Responses

1. Q: There is a statement "The contractor shall be qualified". Does the contactor needed to be qualified or authorized from each manufacture?

A: - Yes, the contractors need to be qualified or authorized by their manufacture.

2. Q: Which UPS are under manufacture's warranty and when is the warranty expiration?

A: All UPS located in ITNs, expired

3. Q: Are there any warranty which states repair must be handled by only manufacture's certified engineer (or the warranty will be revoked.) ?

A: No.

4. Q: Some UPS are quite old. The replacement/repair parts might not be available anymore. If such UPS become inoperable, is the contractor still responsible to repair or maintain them?

A: The PWS states the contractor is responsible to respond to all outages and report status and repair requirements to both OSS/CS respectively. At that time if repair is not practical, then the responsible unit can decide whether to repair or not.

5. Q: On the UPS at Bldg. 3628, a cell (battery) watching system was connected on the UPS. Does the contractor required to maintain/repair such cell watch system as well?

A: If it needs to get replaced, the contractor should be able to make a recommendation and allow customer to decide whether to replace it or not.
