About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a federal contract opportunity to repair water intrusion at Hangar 8 for the Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces. The questions seek clarification on roof details and anchoring methods for new gutters, as well as drainage plans and anticipated downspout locations. In response, the contractor is directed to determine the best anchoring method and provide shop drawings, as the provided as-built drawings contain all details available. Additionally, a site utilities map rather than topography data is attached, and potential downspout locations are marked to direct water away from doors, with confirmation of appropriate placements required from the contractor.

Industry Q&A – Hangar 8 Water Intrusion Repair

1) See the attachment (2 pages) regarding the roof as-built details 1&4 on sheet 4. How are you anticipating a gutter system to be attached/anchored to the roof in these locations? How is the new eave’s “(E) BLOCKING” attached to the original corrugated metal roofing? (the highlighted locations are air/insulation)

- The contractor is to determine the best method of anchoring the gutters to the roof, and provide shop drawings of the details. The provided roof as-built drawings are all the details the government has on the new eaves.

2) Do you have any plan views that show topo information for the site storm water drainage/structures? Some of the building’s adjacent perimeter has no or negative drainage. Where are you anticipating or want the roof downspouts flows to drain to?

Can you show the anticipated flows (and approximate locations) on a plan view?

- The government does not have topography data for the area but attached is a map of the site storm water utilities. The attached roof plan shows potential locations for the downspouts, represented by the red dots. The downspouts need to direct water away from the overhead hangar door and man doors, and the contractor shall confirm the appropriate locations to handle the water.
