FXSB 23‐1011 Hanger 8 Water Intrusion Repair B14410
Contractor Questions and Answers
Q1: Will alternate material be considered for the garage door thresholds that may be better suited to the winter environment?
A: Alternate material will be considered for the garage door thresholds but must first be submitted to the government for approval/disapproval prior to any construction activities.
Q2: Is there any related specification or minimum requirement for either of these two products? – fluid applied water proofing agent or sealant.
A: No further specifications are given outside the scope of work.
Q3: Is the intent of this directive to only utilize what adjustment may be available on the existing garage doors?
A: Yes, the existing garage doors shall be adjusted using the available room.
Q4: Is there any related specification or minimum requirements for these products?
A: No further specifications are given outside the scope of work.
Q5: Who is the responsible party for identifying the downspout locations and areas best suited to handle (receive) the runoff? If this is the contractors’ responsibility, who will be coordinating acceptance of the contractors recommended locations? Also, are there any areas currently identified as being “off‐limits” to any directed excessive runoff resulting from the new gutter/downspout configuration (such as utility vaults, exterior foundations, power pole bases, etc.)?
A: The contractor is to determine the best downspout locations that will then be reviewed and approved or disapproved by the government. There are no areas designated as “off‐limits” to direct the runoff towards. Suggested locations are attached in the “Proposed hangar 8 Rain Gutter Layout” pdf.
Q6: Is there information available related to the existing roof structure and eave makeup to help determine the appropriate fastener type and spacing? If so, can it be provided to the contractors prior to the bid date to determine fastening and loading information?
A: Please see “8.1 Hangar 8 Record Drawings Rev1” attached.
Q7: Is it the intention of the project NOT to include any type of heat tracing system for the new gutters and downspouts? If heat tracing will be a requirement, will any additional information be provided related to the product such as: minimum requirements and/or specifications, power requirements and sources, control requirements, etc.?
A: Heat tracing is not included in the SOW.
Q8: Can it be determined that the SOW for this project (FXSB 23‐1011) will not cause any nullification of existing warranty periods or related issues by performing the work items listed in the SOW dated
12/05/2022?
A: The contractor shall design the gutters and attachments to not violate any existing warranties.
