Task ID 7523101 Dorm Water Fountains- Post-Site Visit Questions
1. Please provide photos of building 55 in the location that the drinking fountain is to be installed. Also please provide photos of the space directly behind the drinking fountain (we assume it is a shared bathroom) and electrical near the proposed location.
Please see the attachment labeled “Dorm Water Fountains- Bldg Pictures“. Due to COVID-19, the Project Manager has been unable to contact the facility manager of Building 55. He will continue to try getting answers to questions related to that building, but as of the time of this email (8 July) he is unable to provide them.
2. The statement of work part 3 (requirements) paragraph 3.9 states that the contractor is to test suspected areas for asbestos containing materials and if encountered the contractor is to mitigate and/or remove such materials. It will be impossible for a bidding contractor to know the extent of abatement necessary without testing being completed prior to the bid. Can the government quantify how much asbestos testing and abatement will be required/allotted for or provide hazardous materials testing of the buildings for our review?
We are still working with our Asbestos abatement shop to determine the extent of asbestos expected.
3. Please provide a list of buildings that are suspected of containing asbestos (built before 1990)
4. Please provide a more detailed specification of the bottle filling stations required to be installed. Are there any basic requirements for the bottle filling stations that are not in the RFP?
We expect the bottle-filling stations to require little preventative maintenance (No regular filter changes, flushing, etc.) and they must incorporate no-touch sensors.
5. Due to lack of time and accessibility during the walkthrough, please provide photos of the existing water fountains at the following locations:
o 641, 651,681, 682, 688, 791, 4995, 7053, 7079, 7113, 8119
Please see the attachment labeled “Dorm Water Fountains- Pictures“.
6. Should we assume that all existing water fountains have power available in the event a refrigerated bottle filer is required?
For replacement of existing fountains, it is safe to assume that power is available. This assumption does not hold true for the new installations requested.
7. For the two buildings (55 and 649) that will have new installations – is mechanical and electrical engineering required?
The Project Manager is gathering more information for question 7, but does not currently have a definitive answer.
8. Will there be any spare wall finishes available for our use to match existing? (wall tile, wall coverings, wall paper, etc) specifically for building 649 and building 55?
No, we have no spare materials for contractor use in these buildings.
9. Where would you anticipate possibly finding asbestos, if any?
