Work requirements:

Contractor shall procure standing seam metal roof sections to match the same dimensions, gauge and color of adjacent roof sections and shall replace roof panels on the northeast facing hip section as shown on attached drawing. The section of roof panels being replaced is part of a separate metal roof that was installed over the original roof structure for Building 1363. No asbestos or lead based materials are expected to be encountered during construction.

Repair the roof at Squad Ops Facility 1363 by removing and replacing the northeast facing hip section of the standing seam metal roof, approximately 1,600 square feet (see attached drawing).

Metal roofing materials removed may be disposed of at base recycle center. Provide new roof panels, snow clips above door opening, and two new full-length hip-ridge caps.

Specifications are provided for both steel and aluminum roof panels. Contractor shall verify what type of metal the existing roof panels are made of and shall match roof panels currently in place.

Match the panel width, profile, hip-ridge cap profile, material, thickness, color, and finish of the existing roof. Construction of repaired section of roof shall be in accordance with manufacturer’s standard construction details. Contractor shall submit shop drawings of construction details for review. Shop drawings shall include a roof plan; eave detail showing gutter, downspout, soffit & trim; hip-ridge detail and panel fastening details. For aluminum panels provide panels of the same gauge thickness, pre-finished with a factory-applied polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coating. For steel panels provide steel panels of the same gauge thickness coated with 70% polyvinylidene fluoride containing 100% inorganic pigments, applied over the corrosion treatment for carbon steel. Mechanically join the panels with a factory seam sealer to match the construction of the original standing seam metal roof as required. Fasten the new roof to the existing zee-purlin standing seam metal roof structure.

New roof screws shall match existing roof screws in place. The existing gutter and downspout over the exit door shall be removed and replaced. Attach new snow clips in same location as existing snow clips. Provide flashing and sealant as required to tie new roof panels into existing roof to provide a permanent weather-tight roofing system that is complete and useable.

Warranty shall include manufacturer’s listed requirements for the warranty to remain intact. The watertight roof system warranty shall include all roof penetrations, flashing, and all joints between the section of roof being replaced and the existing roof. Roof must be installed by an approved roof installer and installed according to manufacturer’s requirements.

Signatures on Watertight warranty must be from the roof System manufacturer and the Government and not from the General Contractor. Warranty shall not be Pro-rated.
