1) Is the intent of this SOW to simply purchase the equipment? We normally install the antennas and microwave system together. This allows us to align the antennas for peak performance with the installed microwave system.

Answer: Yes, the intent is to simply purchase the equipment.

2) Would you require training on the radio equipment? If so, how many sessions and for how many people?

Answer: No training is needed.

3) The SOW calls for two structured T1s would you also desire Ethernet capability to the two sites?

Answer: Yes, we would like to have Ethernet in addition to the T1s.

4) What type of contract does the Government intend to award for this effort and are you looking to make this a small business set-aside?

Answer: A Firm-fixed price contract is intended, and this requirement will not be set-aside for small business.

5) Since you will be doing the installation, do you want a bulk purchase of cable that you can cut to the specific lengths for each site?

Answer: Yes.

6) Does the Government have a preference for the types of connectors used for this effort?

Answer: Industry standard, crimp type.

7) Will the Government provide the most recent tower structural analysis for each site? If not, will the Government accept responsibility for the additional structure load for the antennas purchased for this effort?

Answer: Government will accept responsibility for additional structure load.

8) Does the Air Force require Hot-Standby for both links or would frequency diversity be acceptable to meet the required calculated path availability?

Answer: Hot standby, two radios

9) Do each of the four sites have dehydrator systems available or should the vendor provide?

Answer: I don’t think any of the sites have a dehydrator.

10) For the required path availability of 99.999%, is the required availability one-way or two ways?

Answer: Two way

11) For the 99.999% path availibility requirement should the vendor assume a bit error rate threshold of 10^-6?

Answer: Customer not familiar with the threshold mentioned.

12) The SOW indicates that site 1 and site 3 do not have available DC power, so the vendor should include rectifiers as necessary. Is there a battery backup requirement for these sites? If so, how long should the battery back be designed to operate?

Answer: Only site1 doesn’t have DC so that system would have to be AC with an UPS or DC with enough battery backup to allow generator to kick in; a simple UPS should be fine.
