Questions:
1.) Is it policy to acquire land mobile radios under the NETCENTS contract where applicable?
2.) Is the use of DES encryption authorized in the US Air Force? To my knowledge AES 256 kb encryption is the lowest encryption standard authorized.
3.) “Lightweight Design - does not weigh down a user with its total weight of…” is an incomplete statement.
Answers:
1.) No, NETCENTS contracts are for IT equipment like computers and network components
2.) 256-DES is authorized in the DoD but it will not meet are requirements for transmitting unclassified but sensitive operations that is why we are requesting 256 AES encryption.

3.) Lightweight Design - does not weigh down a user with its total weight of
