MAF Water Wells Response to Questions IV
8 March 2017
Q. In volume III it limits us to 2 pages per citation; however the PPQ (attachment 8 of the solicitation) provided is 6 pages for each project. May we provide the entire PPQ in volume III for each of the potential 10 projects?
A: Yes, provide the entire PPQ
Q. The completion depth for each well appears to be determined in the SOW. However, in reviewing the current information on the wells in the DNRC files, it appears that upper water-bearing zones were drilled through and the wells completed in much deeper water bearing zones. If an upper water-bearing zone is suitable for development, will the client prefer completion at the upper zone or do you still want well completion at the deeper zone identified in the SOW?
A. Drill to the specified depth.
Q. Information available in the DNRC files indicates that current production for these wells are in the range of 2 gallons per minute (gpm).
a. Based on your knowledge of the site, is this an accurate measurement of flow rates?
A. Yes
b. The SOW calls for a step test, with 4 steps and with a pumping rate variation not to exceed 5%. This equates to a variation of 0.1 gpm. This variation will be difficult to maintain in the field. Are there other standards we should be looking at?
A. If the contractor completes the well to the specifications given, and an indistinguishable variation in flowrate exists, Missile Engineering will determine if issue is waivable on a case by case basis.
Q. Logged information in the file named “Repair MAF Water Wells Bore Data.xlsx” posted on March 3, 2017, does not match with the reported total depths in Section 33 21 00 of the Project Specifications. Please explain.
A. That Excel file is the bore logs from the original MAF construction, it has no connection to the current wells on site.
Q. The SOW does not identify the need for aquifer testing analysis, such as determination of transmissivity, storativity, or hydraulic conductivity. Is this correct?
A. This is correct.
