RFI # 2
Question 12: Will the 3rd Party UL inspector be provided by the Government?
In previous projects the Government has provided this service.
Answer:
No. The products must be UL certified and the contractor must provide a third party inspector that is qualified per AFI 32-1065, which is more stringent than a UL inspector.
Question 13: Is the government going to require UL Installers for this project? Or will the 3rd Party ULA Inspector suffice?
Answer: NO. The Installers must be certified by taking one of the approved Courses/classes listed below.
Per 30 CES VAFB LPS Design Guidelines:
"3 Submittals (3) Proof of Certification to Air Force Space Command recognized lightning protection course (for installing or repairing contractor). LPS installation must be performed by a California Licensed Electrical contractor."
"4 The following course(s) are considered AFSPC acceptable courses:
-AMMO-47, Lightning Protection for Air Force Facilities, McAlester, OK ---Note: Web based version of AMMO-47 cannot be used as the initial qualification course.
-National Lightning Safety Institute (NLSI), Advanced Technical Lightning Protection Program, Denver, CO."
Question 14: Are topographical and utility drawings available to calculate pole heights and conductor lengths?
Answer: Yes, see FBO RFI 2, attachment Drawing 1245 C-2 'Plot Plan with Topo Lines - 1968'
*Note that this reflects the best known condition and may or may not reflect any maintenance, patches, overlays or other projects. All verification is the contractors' responsibility and no modifications will be issued due to this issue.
Question 7: What is the thickness of the existing asphalt around the building?
Answer: See RFI # 2 Utility & Paving drawings, FBO attachment.
*Note that this reflects the best known condition and may or may not reflect any maintenance, patches, overlays or other projects. All verification is the contractors' responsibility and no modifications will be issued due to this issue.
