About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding a solicitation for above ground fuel tanks at multiple Air Force facilities. The solicitation calls for replacing existing single-wall tanks with new double-wall tanks and upgrading related fuel equipment, including replacing tank probes and programming the Veeder Root fuel management system. The existing system includes a TLS-350 or TLS-350 Plus console that can accommodate additional alarms for the new double-wall tank configuration with an interstitial sensor. Electrical upgrades are also required since existing infrastructure has deteriorated after many years of outdoor exposure. All new equipment must be internally coated and meet manufacturer specifications.

Answer 1: This solicitation is calling for a 15GPM pump and dispenser. Do you know if these are a cabinet style pump and dispenser or are these a pump mounted on the top of the tank?

Answer 1: The current is cabinet style pump and dispenser.

Question 2: Are there any coating requirements other than these must be internally coated? For instance are there any military coating specs that would be required or is a manufacturer coating acceptable?

Answer 2: I am not tracking any specific military coatings that would be required. Manufacturer Coating is fine.

Question 3: Are there any pictures of the existing setups at any of these sites?

Answer 3: See below

Question 4: Is there any information on what is currently available for electrical at these sites? This is calling for an emergency shutoff to be installed, so any information on the existing electrical service would be helpful.

Answer 4: The issue with the electrical is that it has all been out in the weather for who knows how many years. There is currently a shutoff mounted right next to the tank. We were forward thinking since it'll probably be another 30 years of sitting out in the weather. Should just replace everything.

Question 5: This is calling for proper installation of a current Veeder Root system. Can I assume that this system is currently in place or is this something new that needs to be added? If it currently exists, is there any more information on the existing system? I would need to know if the existing system is currently capable of handling the overfill alarm, high level alarm, low limit alarm, leak alarm, high water alarm, liquid alarm L1, Liquid Alarm L2, or if we would need to update the software on the existing system and if there are enough input spaces for these alarms.

Answer 5: Current Veeder Root system is in place and handles all warnings and indications. The current Veeder Root system is a TLS-350 or TLS-350 Plus and should be able to handle any new requirements. The current tank system is just a single wall above ground tank with a tank probe and over fill alarms. There should be space in the panel to program the interstitial sensor.

Question 6: Does anyone know if any of these probes and sensors for the Veeder Root are going to need to be replaced if these are existing or are there going to need to be any new added to the existing system?

Answer 6: No existing probes are going to be reused. We want all new tank probes installed in the new tank. The veeder root system will also need to be programmed to accommodate the new tank and equipment.
