CDC Playground Purchase Request Number: FA441718Q0114 Questions and Answers

Q 1.) Who is responsible for demo of existing equipment & poured-in-place (PIP) surfacing?

A 1.) IAW the SOW part 5, the contractor will be responsible for the removal of existing equipment and PIP surfacing.

Q 2.) Who is responsible for DISPOSAL of existing equipment & poured-in-place (PIP) surfacing?

A 2.) IAW the SOW part 10 b., the contractor will be responsible for the disposal of existing play area items at the DLA Disposition Services.

Q 3.) Will New playground equipment and PIP surfacing be installed on existing concrete pad?

A 3.) Yes, the current concrete slab is 25x26. The PIP should cover the minimum fall zone.

Q 4.) The scope of work states that there needs to be a shade for the play set. Does it need to just cover the play set or the entire slab?

A 4.) Just the play set.

Q 5.) The allotted time frame is 30 days. The equipment takes up to 4-6 weeks to receive. Is the time frame after the equipment is on site?

A 5.) 30 days after the equipment is received.

Q 6.) If we need to make the play area bigger do I need to put that in my bid, or is that going to be a different bid?

A 6.) Yes, in the existing bid.

Q 7.) For the particular playset you are requesting it calls for a 30x26 slab. It is my understanding that you are wanting to put this on a 25x26 slab? Is this correct?

A 7.) This is correct. The contractor will be able to extend the concrete if need be to accommodate a larger structure.

Q 8.) Is the existing structure (that needs to be removed) surface mounted/bolted on to the concrete sub base or are the footers drilled into the concrete?

A 8.) The existing structure is connected to the concrete, and minimal concrete repair will be needed after the existing play structure is removed, and before the new structure is anchored in.

Q 9.) Either the slab is 31' 8" x 26' 8" for the playground set that you call by name and number, or it will be in violation of the CPSC standards or other requirements that you mandate. It cannot be both a smaller size and in compliance with the mandatory standards and the standards your SOW demands compliance with. One or the other. Please tell us which or revise the SOW one way or another.

A 9.) The original intent of this requirement was for the Tot Spirit Playground, or a similar playground that met the requirements in Section 7 of the Statement of Work. At the time that this was originally solicited the government was unaware that the Tot Spirit playground was larger than the slab that is currently in place. Due to this, we are allowing for industry to submit a playground that will fit the current slab, and meets the requirements in section 7 of the SOW, or to submit an offer for a playground, such as the Tot Spirit, that would require the extension of the slab to be in compliance with standards.

Additional side note; The removal of existing trees should be kept to a minimum. All removal of trees will have to coordinate with CDC Management before any action will be taken.
