FA3099-17-R-0005 Question and Answers.
1. The spec has a mismatch it's asking for a Hobart 400 amp with a 1600 amp Peak but then the application reads in the quotes below they need 2400 amps.
A: 1600 amps is for the GPU. 2400 amps is the max amps the DC Volt cable can handle.
2. In addition, the gauge that it calls out is 4/0 conductors. Is this correct?
A: 4/0 is the conductor size of the DC cable.
3. Is there a total of 2 wires or 4 wires? The manufacturer has seen one wire attaches to " + " and one wire attaches to " - ".
A: 2 wires are required for the DC cable.
4. It is suggested to have an input cable on a unit that is mounted to a pad. This should be hardwired.
A: Minimum of 10 foot input cable, #6 wire, 4 conductor, type W.
5. We would have an input CB rather than a contactor which is better from a safety point of view. On the output we do not use a contactor because of the switch bounce and noise that would be fed into the aircraft, we inhibit the output, and when DC is applied to the aircraft there is no bounce or noise.
Would this be ok?
A: We have not had any issues using the contactor vs. using a circuit breaker. I am OK with the circuit breaker.
6. If you are able to find the NSN number on this Hobart GPU-400T that would be great as well.
A: 6130-01-366-7970 is the stock number for the GPU-400 that we presently have on hand. I am not sure if it would be different for the 400T.
7. Are you requiring a RFID on each of these units per the DFARS 252.211-7003 clause?
A: Yes
