Questions and Answers

1.2.1.1.1 Clean the holding pond, remove the (2) concrete blocks. Remove the blanket liners, hot pressure wash the liner and pump, inspect for any other damage not noted due to the pond not being clean. Repair delamination’s. Modify (1) concrete pad by cutting the 2 inch guideway groves for the pump suction. Reset (1) blanket liner and concrete block in location.

Question - Please clarify requirement for the guideway grooves.

Answer - The guideway grooves are for the pump suction so the pump can pull water from the bottom of the liner.

1.2.1.2.1 Remove vertical ladder in the tower, install hot dipped galvanized ships ladder with elevated safety rail on stair case side.

Questions - Please clarify the requirement for the new ladder in the burn building.

Answer - This is the ladder in the burn building. Design using OSHA fall protection requirements.

1.2.1.2.2 Provide and install 9000 psi rappelling arch.

Question - There is an existing rappelling arch on the burn building roof. Is the requirement to replace the existing?

Answer - Yes the code changed from a 5000 psi rappelling arch to a 9000 psi rappelling arch. Must be replaced to comply with the OSHA fall protection code.

1.2.1.2.4 Provide and install repelling anchor upgrades to include beam spreaders and grade 8 bolt extensions and lock.

Question - There are three (3) rappelling anchors on the burn building roof, are we replacing these? Adding additional?

Answer - Yes, according to a certified structural engineer beam spreaders and grade 8 bolts are required to balance the rappelling force across the beam.

Question - ARFF Tower: The Chief mentioned that the tower stairs need to be replaced as they are too steep. I do not see this in the SOW. Can you confirm if this is a requirement? If so, can you provide any specs/details on the new stairs?

Answer - Negative, this is the same requirement as the vertical ladder in the burn building.

Question - The Training Chief mentioned that he has drawings of the ARFF pit and pics of the specific changes requested on the ARFF trainer. Can I get a copy of each of these?

Answer - Attached. To clarify, both the inboard and outboard engines and upper wing attached to the engines need to be replaced.
