502 CONS/JBKAE Solicitation #FA301620U0153 JBSA Lackland, TX Parade Ground Speaker System

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Cut-off date for contractor questions is: 1:00 PM CST, 14 July 2020.

Questions

Question 13: Since above ground conduits are tripping hazards especially to civilian family members, am I correct in that we must provide all new cabling and proper conduits trenched out in each direction starting from the rack to each farthest canopy on each end? That means trenching to minimum of 6 inches deep about 1,500 ft of new cable into rocky ground.

Government Response: Contractor is responsible to provide the appropriate solutions for wiring of the speakers whether it be conduit placed in trenches, or through the existing supports of the canopies over the seating area.

Question 14: Will steel conduits be required as stub outs from the ground up to the speakers at each canopy? These would have to be bolted to the concrete base and then to the steele columns to keep people from kicking or pulling them loose.

Government Response: The steel conduits currently in place are an eye-sore and constantly are damaged by ground maintenance. Running the speaker wiring along the “Bomb Run” defeats the purpose of a direct line to the speakers from the control module. If stub outs are required to facilitate the project, than they must be placed behind the bleacher area, along the parking curb, without hindering pedestrian traffic.

Question 15: Will there be a need for a handheld, cabled microphone in case of emergency?

Government Response: Yes

Question 16: Will there be a need for redundancy in case an amplifier fails? The current system has such a feature.

Government Response: Base the need off the requirements for an outdoor Public Address System.

Question 17: Will the vendor be responsible for removing and disposing of the existing system?

Government Response: Yes

Question 18: Since only 37 out of the 40 speaker stations are to be replaced. Will the Government expect the speakers at the farthest ends integrated with the new system? They will have to work in unison.

Government Response: Yes

Question 19: Given the number of critical questions to be answered, will the Government please extend the bid date to July 22?

Government Response: See amendment for new response date – no additional time will be allowed for questions.
