RESPONSES TO INDUSTRY QUESTIONS #1
Questions
1. I just wanted to follow-up and see if a date and time has been determined for the site visit.
REPLY: A Site visit is scheduled for 1 MAY 2020, at 1330 hrs CST. Meet at site 30 minutes prior to event.
2. In accordance with the LAK Library Statement of Need document, section 1.1.1 b) starting in the second sentence, it states that “The contractor is responsible for hardware and materials to install 47 hardwire network drops” but then goes on to say “The Contractor may use existing hardware and materials (drops and service is currently in place and in service) but shall provide all other requirements for this project necessary for network connectivity.” Would you please clarify what is needed to meet this requirement?
REPLY: All the wiring for the 47 computers is already in place by the previous contract, however, some of it was wired down a non-industry standard path that needs to be corrected by the new contractor. The wiring goes through the ceiling (which is appropriate) for most of the length but then comes out of the ceiling and is duct taped along outside walls, down and under a doorway. The new contractor can use the existing access points, wiring, switches and any other equipment already in place if desired.
3. Will this WiFi system be air-gapped from the existing network or integrated into the existing network?
REPLY: No. There are two existing network systems within the facility. There is a Gov owned/maintained commercial WiFi system and the Gov Official NIPRNet. The new WiFi will be completely independent of both of these systems.
4. Are firewall services required?
REPLY: Yes, we will need some type of firewall service to control content (pornography mainly) to extent possible.
5. The 30-day installation period seems short for a project of this size. Can the installation SLA be lengthened to 90 to 120 days?
REPLY: No. We need this service to be in place as close to the end of May 2020 as possible due to the expiration of the current contract. If the library does not have commercial internet it will have to close until the service can be restored.
6. Given the current stay at home orders across the United States and the multi-phased approach to opening up the country, what date is the site visit at 1930 George Ave, Bldg. 6114 JBSA- Lackland, TX 78236? Can the fiber survey be done the same day?

REPLY: A Site visit is scheduled for 1 MAY 2020, at 1330 hrs CST. We will most likely be able to arrange the fiber survey the same day as well provided at least 2-3 days notice is given. Yes, Fiber survey can be done on the same day.
7. Based upon the site visit, can we have an additional thirty (30) days to prepare and submit our proposal?
REPLY: Unfortunately, no additional time will be afforded for bidding. Time is of the essence once award is made and if installation is required to minimize impact of continuous services after 31 May 2020.
8. Is the due date still May 5 or will it change given the current state of the nation?
REPLY: A new quotation due date has been set for 7 MAY 2020 @1400 HRS, CST
