Illuminated Shade Structures Questions and Answers FA3016-19-U-0173
1. Are we able to tie-in to the electrical power at the existing light poles on site or do we need to tie in to bldg. 10504’s electrical room? Tie into the electrical power at the existing light poles.
2. Since a new shade structure will be going up with lights, will the existing lights that illuminate the basketball court need to come down? No.
3. Where does the Government need to be able to turn on the new lights that will be installed with the new canopy? There is a switch in the office of Bldg 10504 which operates the existing lights. Tying into the existing lights should give the capability to turning all the lights on with the existing switch.
4. What area will we able to use as a laydown yard for equipment/material? The volleyball court between Bldg 10504 and the basketball court, the two pavilions in the immediate area of the basketball court, or the parking area east of the court.
5. There are some existing bleachers next to the basketball court that we will be providing the canopy for. Will the Government be moving these to allow room for construction?
Yes.
6. Are there drawings for this project location? Can the government provide them? Yes, see
Q&A Attachment.
7. In lieu of providing additional lighting inside the canopy, would the government allow for modifying the existing lighting system to meet the requirements of this project? (i.e.
modify the exiting 4 pole lights). Other than tying into the existing lighting for power there is to be no modification to the existing lighting.
8. If the lights are to be powered from the patio, does the government want the lights on a switch, timer or photocell? See Question 3
9. What is the depth of the concrete patio where the existing power is located? The depth of the concrete is unknown. Tie into the existing light poles.
10. What is the Period-Of-Performance for this project? The contractor shall provide in this offer the estimated completion date for this project.
11. Do Prevailing Wage Rates apply to this project? No, this is a commodity buy with installation incidental to the purchase.
12. Would you consider lowering the existing lights to 16ft and installing new light fixtures or using the existing lights? No.
13. Would you consider using the electrical wiring to the existing lights to feed to the new columns and lights? Yes, see Question 1

15. If we can use the existing light pole power, what is the amperage and voltage rating of the breaker feeding the existing lights. The 4 light poles are on a 20amp, 277 volts breaker by themselves. See Q&A Attachment.
16. If the existing light pole power can be used, can the existing lights and poles remain in place or will they need to be removed? They need to remain in place.
17. The SOW states to mount the new light fixtures on the four corner posts which would put the fixture height at around 15 ft off the ground. Has the government considered this would put the light shining into the players faces on the opposite end of the court. Can the lights be mounted on the side of the court or under the canopy? No, they should be mounted IAW SOW, Description of Work, Bullet Point 2.
18. Will the new lights need to have a switch or photocell located at the court location? No, see Question 3
