1.3.2 The contractor may be required to remove or install all furniture in order to prepare a facility for renovation or furnish a new/renovated facility(s). The contractor shall provide these services as required by Housing Manager, COR or Contracting Officer (CO).

Question – How often will these occur and what is the average amount/poundage of furniture? Because this function is comparable to a “mass move” will the Government move this requirement to PWS 1.1.4 and price within 0003/1003/2003/3003/4003/5003?

Answer – These moves will occur on an as-needed basis, with an average weight of around 50,000 pounds. The Government does not intend to move this requirement to PWS 1.1.4.

Question –Do mass moves and emergency moves ever occur concurrently?

Answer – Not under normal circumstances, but if they do, then the mass and emergency moves will fall under their respective guidelines set forth in the PWS.

Question – Of the approximately 23 facilities serviced by the contract, which of these buildings have more than one floor?

Answer – Around 20 buildings being serviced have multiple floors.

Question - Of the building with more than one floor, is there an elevator that can be used to move the furniture? Of these facilities served, which facilities require long distance carry from the truck loading/unloading area to the room where the furniture is to be used?

Answer – Elevators will not be used to move furniture. All buildings serviced will be within an approximate distance of 5 miles from the FMO warehouse.

Question - Is a barcoding system part of the EMH system, and if EMH has a barcoding system, can the contractor use the barcode system to make labels for the non-EMH property?

Answer – Some items are accounted for within the EMH system, while all other items must be accounted for within a contractor automated inventory controlled system. Non-EMH property must be handled using the contractor automated inventory controlled system.

Question - How large of a forklift and what is the reach and height requirements?

Answer – The forklift must be able to reach the highest shelf in the warehouse, which is 16 feet high. The forklift must be capable of carrying any item within the warehouse.

Question - What are the specific types of furniture that require assemble and disassembly?

Answer - Captain bed, headboard, desk hutch, and a one drawer night stand.

Question – How many pieces of the estimated 9,945 pieces of furnishings are located in the FMO warehouse?

Answer – A complete inventory has not been taken recently, therefore an accurate number is not available as the specific inventory amount is constantly changing.
