About this file

This document is Exhibit I from the Arizona Department of Child Safety's Office of Procurement, dated 6/24/15, providing a detailed comparative analysis of Therapeutic versus Forensic Evaluations. The exhibit originates from the State of Arizona and is specifically focused on defining and differentiating two types of professional evaluations conducted for adults and children within the child safety and legal system.

The document outlines key distinctions between forensic and therapeutic evaluations, highlighting their unique purposes, initiators, and contexts. Forensic evaluations are mandatory, initiated by third parties like attorneys or judges, and designed to assist court proceedings with specific legal questions. Therapeutic evaluations are voluntary, initiated by clients or guardians, and aim to identify mental health treatment needs. The exhibit provides comprehensive examples for both adults and children, detailing scenarios such as case planning, permanency planning, psychological assessments, legal competency evaluations, and treatment-focused diagnoses. The matrix-style presentation clearly delineates the scope and application of each evaluation type across different contexts and age groups.
